also, does the emerald ring have an intended future use or is it just loot to sell? It would be dope if we could equip it, even if it would just be a cosmetic change.
The "key" for the pedestal is the emerald ring lol
I also agree that it'd be cool if we could equip the emerald ring, even if it's objectively useless, compared to the light gem ring.
They gota make it a bit more obvious, why call it a key if it's a ring, I didn't even knew the trust servant was there like why is he in the Barbershop while all hell broke loose? I expected him to be dead near one of the many carriges.
Emerald ring is needed for progression, but after that you can sell it for tree fiddy.
There's a big sign above the elevator that reads "Emerald Terrace".
I think that's a pretty big hint.
You could argue the sign should be at around eye-level, instead of so high up, but I feel like there's barely enough here to call this a puzzle as is. At least keeping the sign somewhat out of the way rewards observant players, rather than, more or less, just giving away the solution to anyone who gets close and reads the note.
I really hope that in the future we get more puzzles like these which kind of play like an old school point and click adventure - the emerald ring thing was exactly that.
Eh, it was SORT OF that.
The fact that the game doesn't make use of the dynamic inventory system and physics to make you manually drag the ring out of your inventory and place it in the bowl - but rather automatically picks out the right item for you, as long as you have it in your possession - removes most of the actual puzzle aspect of it.
Edit: Maybe there could be two separate difficulty choices, like in Silent Hill.
One for the actual stealth survival gameplay, the other for puzzles.
That way, players who enjoy the stealth and survival gameplay, but do not enjoy puzzles, can get the easier version, where the game drops the ring in the bowl for you. And players who enjoy difficult puzzles will get the harder variant, where you have to manually drop the correct item into the bowl yourself.
