Is this game worth getting or is it better to stick with Duel Links?

Duel links has a bigger multiplayer focus as it has a way bigger community. For single player and freedom of experimentation this one is better (duel links is pretty p2w after all). You can also play multiplayer here..but for that you will have to check around for people who wants to play.

there's always people online to play, even if only a few, if you bought on switch no longer than 15s wait tho.

This has been a vast improvement over duel links for me and i really only bought it for the first season playthrough. Love having the full field and 8k lifepoints.

been playing on switch since launch and its always pretty dead online unless you coordinate with people on a third party service like discord
