Master Samurai is hard
Did the developers even play on this difficulty? Half of the fights are significantly tougher than the other half (so far), some downright impossible. Anyone have any luck with it?

I made a post on this earlier. I've gotten as far as the graveyard boss. that's it. That boss fight is has like a 0.5% chance of you beating it hahah. I've tried over 40 times to beat it and I totally believe it wasn't tested or was played with a New Game + account. It's insanely hard.
Insane props for even getting that far. How did you beat the dual beetle fight?

I started it on Hard, I got to the first boss, and it's impossible, it hits you two or three times and kills you, and you hit it a lot of times even with the power items and it doesn't do anything, the difficulty is broken of this game ... and I always play in high difficulties, but apparently they did not test the game well.

Difficulty is not broken, It's intended to be for replay. Because, a lot of mid-game enemies comes out that are really hard to kill without range or rush guard.
I just beat the second mission's boss through consumable and range spam. I assume that the boss is significantly easier on NG+, when you already have a hammer. I am lowering my difficulty.

It's way too hard, but is, for the most part, doable. I say for the most part because I was able to beat everything on MAster Difficulty beside the Aku City boss and the Final Boss, where I ended up dropping the difficulty. Both of these bosses, more than the other, have really cheap, high damaging abilities on them while being uber tanky. in fact, being uber tanky is part of MAster's problem.

For the Aku City fight specifically, switching from Master to Normal had me killing the boss literally at least 3 times faster. It feels like Master should've been the final difficulty while there was an intermediate between Normal and it, as can't even imagine what kind of BS Master of Masters has in store. I might go back and rebeat those levels on Mster to unlock the final difficulty, but we'll see if they fix the achievements not working first.

Yeah I gave up on Ninja Gaiden 2. I have great respect for you for doing this ♥♥♥♥.

I just wish I was able to beat those other 2 bosses on Master. The whole thing was a struggle, so I'd like to have at least gotten those as well, but I had to move on, haha. The higher difficulty really makes the combat systems flaws stand out, even though I think it has a lot of genuinely good bits to it too.

Use fists and air strong attack. It has insane tracking with long range and it one or two shots those laserbots. It's difficult and that should be the point. Git gud.

Rushing Guard light attack is also kind of overpowered. I honestly don't find the game fun enough to put the effort in and play on the harder difficulty.

Almost beat the game on Master Samurai on a fresh save (my first run). Stage 1 and 2 were the hardest as you're still pretty gimped, but afterwards it keeps getting easier the more abilities you get. Once you get rushing guard, witch-time, parry and the increased dropchance the game gets a *lot* easier.

Don't forget this is made by a breed of oldsk00l devs who don't care about your feelings of fair. They want you dead.

I quit on the mission with the snow and the tanks - it was really frustrating because I could not figure out how to avoid damage.

Unfortunately, the combat does not hold up. Some moves can be spammed to win (chiefly rushing guard quick attack), but it's overall not satisfying to me.

You can abuse a lot of moves like the Shoryuken if you wish, but honestly it does hold up imo. Especially love the numerous sweeps, knockback and launchers, hitconfirm into grabs - lots of fun toys.

Yeah NGII is king. Best action game I've played, so many Master Ninja runs done I can't keep count. Only game that comes close imo is Vanquish and Zone of the Enders 2.

The game does seem balanced around the idea that you go back on higher difficulties after having unlocked a lot of skills.

That said, you can exit to the menu and select older stages to grind a little if need be. Once you actually have all the tools at your disposal the game isn't that rough.
