"L" button to untangle from Imakandi rope?

So I have been playing a for a while, but every once in a while I get trapped in an enemy move where I am asked to press an "L" button. Like when the Imakandi tangles you up in a rope and you are supposed to press "L" to untangle yourself. It also happened in the zombie level where I got stabbed with a sword up against a wall and was supposed to use "L" to resist.

Well, I can not find any "L" on my Xbox 360 controller. I have tried pressing left on the 2 analog sticks, left on the digital pad, and the top buttons labelled "LB" and "LT", but nothing here works. So I end up dying every time I am caught in a move where I have to resist with "L".

Maybe the 360 controller doesn't have this buttton and the game assumes I am using a more recent controller. This does not happen so often so I could reach over to the keyboard to push the ability. But which key is it? Is it possible to bind the big "X-box" button in the middle of the controller as the "L".

I am also supposed to be able to use some ability by pressing L+R, but that never worked for me either.
