Report a translation problem
happening multiple times only since the patch
during my third playthrough
Out of curiosity, I let them detect me and they opened as if facehuggers were in them, only nothing came out, and the aliens weren't alerted to my presence.
Same thing happened to me a couple of times on my last play-through. The best way to see if the eggs are actually dead is if you wave the grenade launcher target reticle around it. Live eggs will be highlighted if they are anywhere within the inner or outer damage circle. Dead eggs will only highlight if the reticle is aimed dead at the egg. If you don't have a grenade launcher, you'll have to take your chances - I did not see another reticle have that loophole.
I usually flame the buggers
from other reports, looks like they may actually be dead like you say
the game is just throwing up the detection alert by mistake
seeing quite a few little bugs in this latest patch
previously was very well behaved for me
