Put down sentries and use drone to aggro the eggs. Takes some setup but works like a charm. Keep in mind xenos can come to investigate and kill your sentries from behind so some planning is needed.
its just difficult to know with this bug whether the egg is actually dead or not
And flame sometimes kill them sometimes not.......
Anyway when I trigger a hunt I aggro them and kill the facehuggers sniping them works but some places have like 10-20 eggs.So I can explore easier.
Or you place down 2-3 turrets at the door and 2-3 to cover the sides soldiers go into hide somehwere
drone opens the door many eggs get killed and turrets killed patrols.
Few eggs can be killed by snipe.
But this bug needs fixed so flame thrower can be used as it should.
There are a couple of ways to check if the egg is still 'Live'.
1) One is simply with the cursor - of the cursor is over a live egg (or sleeping alien etc) it will turn into a blue skull-like symbol for focus fire.
2) If you still have a marine with a grenade launcher, if you wave the target reticle around, live eggs will be highlighted if they are anywhere in the damage circles, dead eggs will highlight only if the reticle is centered on it.
3) If your recon marine has line of sight, his sniper rifle will be able to lock on target (line goes white). If you can't get a lock, but have a detection line to the sniper, it's probably dead.
Yes, it's an annoying bug to see detection lines coming from dead eggs, but just double-check with the methods above and it's fine. And yes, flamethrowers are not 100% guaranteed to kill all the eggs in the fire zone. Always double check.
But I had times dead bugged egg caused a hunt and egg was unkillable even by nades it was not highlighted and I even nade it with zero"damage".
Fully exiting the game and reload fixed it.
(I play on restricted saves so bug like that can waste ton of time.)
If you kill an egg first by sniper rifle or nade than it always dies for me and never gets into a bugged state even if you return to that room later.
To me if I nade a cluster it always causes a hunt, and sniper rifle is very CP inefficient at killing eggs.
Game needs more checks to see if the egg dies and if it does it should always perform the "dying animation" should be 100% obvious to the player that the egg is dead or not.
Egg dying could also get an obvious sound effect.
If dead should not have ANY detection line.
That said I did not know flamethrower is not 100% kill chance that case eggs should have health bars as well.
Also afaik normal eggs do not cause hunt just release a face hugger which can cause a hunt.
Looking forward to the patch.
