Ultrawide
So I won't buy the game until it supports ultrawide resolutions. We're in 2023, it can't be that hard to implement. Otherwise, I'd really like the buy it as it looks pretty fun. I've had it wishlisted for over a year I guess? Anyway, please implement it!

That's not ultrawide though. That's in the 4k.

Which is standard these days, so no real surprises there.

Ultrawide is someone like the samsung G9 for exemple at 5120 X 1440

3440 x 1440 is 21:9, which is ultrawide. The G9 is referred to as superultrawide, which is 32:9.

What are you talking about? 3440x 1440 is ultrawide. 2560 × 1440 is the standard.

No, it's 1440p Ultrawide, which is what I'm playing at, it's not quite 4k but it's definitely an ultrawide aspect ratio and it works fine.
The reason your not seeing the issue then is because you're not noticing the "Zoom in" too much. But it's there.

In 5120 X 1440 I didn't notice it right away, until I reached a point in the tutorial where the objective I had to click on was literally OFFSCREEN (You'll see some post about people stuck at the tutorial when they can't take cover. That's because they play at very high resolution and the thing they are supposed to click is off screen.)

We're essentially playing the game with a 100 percent zoom in.

1440p, the zoom in is just much less noticeable. And you might be able to play it just fine at that resolution.

But for those of use play at much higher resolutions? Yep, it's game over. We literally can't even access some things because they out of the boundery of our screens.

21:9 works fine and is referred to as ultra-wide, 32:9 is classified as super ultra-wide and doesn't seem supported.
But to be clear, Ultra-wide works just fine, that's aspect ratios of 21:9.

My bad, it is ultra wide, however, 3440x 1440 the zoom in effect is just barely noticeable in your case.

5120 X 1440 the zoom in is so strong that you have UI, objectives off screen. And even enemies are not visible because we are so zoomed on in.

So in your case, the zoom in is not strong enough to be noticable or a problem.

But 5120 X 1440 user, it definitely is.

To be fair, you're using a very niche bit of kit, and you can't expect devs to support such hardware since not many people use it.

I know that doesn't help and I hope the Devs do push a patch that will fix that aspect ratio, but ultrawide is supported and I hope this doesn't deter people playing the game.

Agree 5120 x 1440 is broken. Squad selection is comical. In game your super zoomed in ALL the time.
I know not everyone plays at this resolution but they really should give the option for different ratios in the windowed mode.

Plenty of games (Indy games at that) support it just fine.

This is a game from 20 century fox from one of the most popular franchises in the world.

I don't think this is a valid excuse. (I can accept it form indy devs with niche games and IP).

But ALIENS? I don't think so lol.

I'm not even asking it to be scale at 5120 X 1440, I would be happy to play it at 3440x 1440 with black bars on the side (as many games do). Instead of this silly ZOOM in solution.

Is quite simple to determine. 3440*1440 users simply set to 2560*1440. If they see more on the left and right with the 3440 resolution, there is no zooming at all.

Can't spreak for 3440x 1440, but for 5120 X 1440 there is.

I did it in a roundabout way, since there's no option to set resolution (which is a bit dumb to be fair).

Set to window mode and then scaled up to 16:9 ratio, and it's the same as ultrawide, nothing is zooming when at 21:9.

That would fix the issue.

I'm not asking for this game to be adapted for 5120 X 1440, I'm fine playing it at a lower resolution with blackborders.

But we don't have that option.

Yep and that's the core of the issue with 5120 X 1440.

I would be more than happy to play at a lower resolution but the game won't allow me. So I'm stuck at 5120 X 1440 with a MASSIVE zoom in.

Just give camera distance slider and everything resolved lol.
Kai Jun 20, 2023 @ 8:27am
if you can be bothered to you might be able to fix it with some hex editing, its a pain to do but usually works in these sorts of scenario, there's plenty of tutorials how to on the wsgf site if you're unfamiliar with it.
Pure laziness not to add support for all aspect ratios tho,it's a feature all old games used to have from before so many releases being console ports. The niche kit argument is as dumb as not supporting RTX 4090s coz only a small % of people own them too, plus it's such a simple thing to implement, its about 4 lines of code and some rearranging ui elements.
