3440 x 1440 is 21:9, which is ultrawide. The G9 is referred to as superultrawide, which is 32:9.
In 5120 X 1440 I didn't notice it right away, until I reached a point in the tutorial where the objective I had to click on was literally OFFSCREEN (You'll see some post about people stuck at the tutorial when they can't take cover. That's because they play at very high resolution and the thing they are supposed to click is off screen.)
We're essentially playing the game with a 100 percent zoom in.
1440p, the zoom in is just much less noticeable. And you might be able to play it just fine at that resolution.
But for those of use play at much higher resolutions? Yep, it's game over. We literally can't even access some things because they out of the boundery of our screens.
But to be clear, Ultra-wide works just fine, that's aspect ratios of 21:9.
5120 X 1440 the zoom in is so strong that you have UI, objectives off screen. And even enemies are not visible because we are so zoomed on in.
So in your case, the zoom in is not strong enough to be noticable or a problem.
But 5120 X 1440 user, it definitely is.
To be fair, you're using a very niche bit of kit, and you can't expect devs to support such hardware since not many people use it.
I know that doesn't help and I hope the Devs do push a patch that will fix that aspect ratio, but ultrawide is supported and I hope this doesn't deter people playing the game.
I know not everyone plays at this resolution but they really should give the option for different ratios in the windowed mode.
This is a game from 20 century fox from one of the most popular franchises in the world.
I don't think this is a valid excuse. (I can accept it form indy devs with niche games and IP).
But ALIENS? I don't think so lol.
I'm not even asking it to be scale at 5120 X 1440, I would be happy to play it at 3440x 1440 with black bars on the side (as many games do). Instead of this silly ZOOM in solution.
I did it in a roundabout way, since there's no option to set resolution (which is a bit dumb to be fair).
Set to window mode and then scaled up to 16:9 ratio, and it's the same as ultrawide, nothing is zooming when at 21:9.
I'm not asking for this game to be adapted for 5120 X 1440, I'm fine playing it at a lower resolution with blackborders.
But we don't have that option.
I would be more than happy to play at a lower resolution but the game won't allow me. So I'm stuck at 5120 X 1440 with a MASSIVE zoom in.
Pure laziness not to add support for all aspect ratios tho,it's a feature all old games used to have from before so many releases being console ports. The niche kit argument is as dumb as not supporting RTX 4090s coz only a small % of people own them too, plus it's such a simple thing to implement, its about 4 lines of code and some rearranging ui elements.
