Cerberus protocol day counter?
Does it always start at the same number of days?
I stupidly made my game with a single strong squad, pretty much the first squad that was deployed to dead hills. Now I'm near the end and a days counter started.

I was thinking of training (Going to pioneer or somewhere with a good spot) and farm minibosses to level up my marines and form a second or third squad, but now I have to watch what I do because of the count down.

I could still reload my savegame from right before finishing the last objective, at the cerberus control room, and farm, but if it will still affect the count down it makes it useless.

My count down started at 25 days left until planetary bombardment.

Yes, depending on difficulty, it always starts with the same number of days, and it won't start until you press the button. You can stall as long as you want.

Great, thanks.
I stupidly only levelled one squad and the rest were just fillers. I will prepare better.

You'll be okay, really. Enjoy your campaign. 😁

I'd recommend not completing the Dead Hills level, and before going down into the mine, using the mine entrance location as a training ground.

Move the ARC to that location, setup some motion trackers behind the ARC, deploy sentry guns in front of the mine entrance door, facing east. Then simply attract the bugs, and progress through each Massive Onslaught.

However, your marines must be the ones to kill any Cat 2's that spawn. To prevent the ARC stealing the kills, I just move my marines to the gate entrance east of the mine, throw down a few flares, set a suppressive fire cone, and whittle down the Cat 2's, preferably using an RPG (if unlocked) and grenade.

Once you reach max aggression, extract, regroup and redeploy. Rinse and repeat until your marines are state of the badass art.

Won't that make fill the marines with traumas?
I could do that after completing the docks mission and having the PCU.

This do sound very grindy to me.

I like the alternative in this linked post better:

Skipping 200 days until you have 30+ marines in the barracks.
Train every marine to level 4.
Then wait until after mission 4 and you get air strikes.
Deploy on any map, run 3 of the marines into an airstrike. Extract.
Repeat until you have only say 10 marines left, the ones you want to keep.
Then deploy with them and pick up the dogtags. 4xp on everyone per dogtag.

Ok. that should do it.

If you want the Flawless Victory achievement, that won't work. If not, then knock yourself out!

WHAT'STHAT? An achievement to complete the game without marines dying once? Can't I complete that in New Game +?

Sure can. Don't break your back.
