Good question was wondering the same.
Have they moved on to another game?
or is more Patches coming?
or a DLC?

The game is excellent, until you reach the final mission of xenocity, a pointless, low-budget and lackluster mission, that already says a lot...
We are really the station administrator, Maeko Hayes, totally abandoned by Weyland Yutani

Yes. Looks as terrible works with community. But game is a great (notwithstanding the swarm of bugs)

Guessing the game did not deliver the numbers and such they hoped and if we are lucky we might see a few patches. Which is a shame because this game will probably be "noticed again" in say 3-5 years. And a number of future customers will be driven away cuz of the many bugs.

I cannot understand that.
Some not too rich games based on old franchises were released resently- Terminator FPS, Robocop FPS, Aiens COOP, Starship trooppers (RTS and COOP), Terminator (RTS).
All of these games have popularity (and therefore sales) comparable to A:DD. Therefore it should not be an economical issue.
Very strange.

It depends how much money the publisher spent to get the rights and the sales projections.

If the money men made bad assumptions, then the game might not have met the thresholds for more support/continuation.

How is there not an editor for this game?

Because it's handcrafted piece by piece. They felt it was perfect the way it was.

If you have a link to that info id love to read it.

Imo its more likely they made this then all went on to other projects leaving just a few low level ppl to make sure it doesnt develop any game breaking bugs.

Ive been working since i was 15 and i dont think ive ever done a " perfect " job, meaning if your totally content you are pushing yourself to be better.

so a link to where they said " we feel this is perfect the way it is " would be very interesting to read, thank you

I'm just meaning it wasn't procedurally generated, that's all. That means they built each level like games used to be made. Perfection is a goal always out of reach - I added that for emphasis - but I'm guessing you already knew that.

Most games that are handcrafted don't have editors. Super Mario Bros. finally got Maker, but before that, they were handcrafted levels. They didn't have an editor to withhold.

I suspect the game didn't sell very well, not because it's bad, but because it's for a pretty niche audience, so the funding for further patches or development was cut. At least they gave newgame+ before quitting though.

Bane of Alien/s games: Every time a halfway faithful one comes along (Isolation), it just doesn't do very well. Eventually, nobody is gonna make them anymore. Instead doing the decades old "proper" movie license treatment, as invented by Ocean Software et all back in the day:

Aquire a movie license and reskin whatever is currently popular at the market, easy to get into and comparably cheap to produce. Back then it was platformers and Beat 'em up games (even The Blues Brothers and AvP had those, not kidding). Today it' shooters. For as long as the game's characters look some like in the movie, the levels some too, somebody is gonna buy it.

I'll say nuke all that from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Terminator seems abysmal to be honest. Starship troopers i played the demo is okay but not for 30 euros sadly. Sorry but that game is too pricey for that tag. Later for 15 euros i buy it. Robocop intrigued. Maybe i'll buy it.
