did anyone win, perfect organism +5 on nightmare?
I cant find anything any playtrough when anyone actually does it. It seems perfect organism was introduced later, some people dont even have it in options.

There was 1 or 2 people on here saying they were working on it. Not sure who actually finished it. Most of the early players were done with the game by the time it released. It basically just means if you take hit, it's an instant kill, and there's little reason to play it since all you get for it is bragging rights.

My last full run was Nightmare +3/+3 with NCTHS, that was something.like my 6th run, so there were no surprises.

I then started a +5/+5, and saw it was not significantly different, so I got bored and quit playing after finishing the Montero (the hardest mission). I know I COULD have finished the campaign no sweat, and that's all that I needed to know..

Also you should clarify that people didn't do it on NG+, that just makes the game too easy..

Don't enemies and their numbers scale with NG+?

how many teams did you level for +5? (btw what does +5/+5 mean? i only know about perfect organism thing...)
IAmSquidget Dec 16, 2023 @ 9:25am
Nope, NG+ is exactly the same as the normal campaign, except you start with more experienced marines. It makes the game easier, not harder. Disappointing.

The last patch added two difficulty sliders, each which go from +1 to +5, hence the shorthand +x/+x.

Perfect organism is the first one, it adds extra damage. The second slider is starting infestation.

So +5/+5 means that aliens do 5 extra damage per hit, and the infestation starts with 5 units already filled.

And the last difficulty modifier is the save mode. NCHTS (no one can hear them scream) is the more challenging save mode.

Do you use temporary party members (rescues) as meatshield/extra firepower until end of the level?

I started not evacuating them until the end... if they get injured i can use a medkit, but them taking damage means my marines do not spend more time in medbay... and ironically they have a tendency to run in the front of the squad not the back.

I used to make them fight all the way through, but as I got better, I didn't mind dumping them, simply because I was more efficient. No one was going to die on my watch, regardless. Trying to defend civilians just to get their handgun wasn't worth it on Nightmare. I just would rather fight alone. Acid splashes are just too unpredictable with heavy fighting with no armor.

On higher difficulty civilians can die in a single hit if they get unlucky, and their DPS is terrible. It's harder to make a 6 person squad fit into cover than a 5 person squad. Also harder to keep them stealthed.

So I usually run them home as soon as I can.

Yeah I did it with all the sliders maxed and I usually don't with games. It is doable but I regret it due to how long it took me to finish since I had to replay huge chunks of the mission over and over when I was scarce on tools.

were you using a lot of tactical analysis? sacrificing tools for command points?

i'm doing only +3/+3 but i have no shortage, i go with 0 come back with 4... i only take the turrets. I'm also abusing elevators for saves.

Only parts that i have to replay a lot is boss fights that force you to be unprepared with a mandatory cutscene. I hate when games do this but whatever.

Yeah the cutscenes in this game are too many, change the camera angle too often and move your marines without permission-- in order to make them do something dumb. I hate when games do that for artificial "Challenge".

Lost all my sentry gunts to a cutscene once and had to reload because it was super dumb.

gonna try +5/+5

I've figured out some tricks to deal with these beasts.
It seams even with +5 if you have a single bar of armor they do not get to health if you have any armor. So you have 1 hit pass.
