Aliens will ALWAYS try to find a way towards you where there is no active burning including taking big detours eg.going from another door.
Usually during their detour you have extra time to shoot them.
However if there is only 1 valid path towards you and that is burning they will go through the flames but will obviously take burn damage.
I am not sure if warriors can jump through flame tiles.
So flames are passable but aliens will only choose them if there is no other way around it.
Yes, they can, or at least they do on me.
You want to use this - say you are preparing for an onslaught and the room you are in has two doors, you can essentially seal off one door with fire, and all the aliens will funnel in the door you want (right into your sentry barrage).
