Stuck on the Montero, looking for a hint
As the title says, I'm stuck on the Montero mission and I'm looking for a hint.

My current primary objective is: Steal the Montero's Gas Mixing Chip
Secondary Objective: Retrieve Marlow's Research

Immediately before this I had the objective of "Reach the control room," which I did, but found it odd because I wasn't asked to do anything while I was in there.

Anyway, so I'm now trying to reach an area in the west end of the ship, but ALL the accessways are blocked by condemned doors or one door locked from the inside. I honestly cannot find a single way through to this area. I'm hoping you can help.

Going to try and add a screenshot of the map...

Hello!
There's a computer in the control room, did you interact with it?
If I recall correctly after that some of the locked doors open so you can go through.

Cheers!
Hello!

This computer in the control room is the odd element. I *cannot* interact with it. When I try to, my mouse icon turns into a great big red X.

To be clear, the computer you need is in the rear of the ship, the most eastward room on the map. Not the one in the front of the ship.

If that can't be interacted with, that sounds like a bug and you might need to do it again.
Yeah, it can't be interacted with. Even when I try re-deploying.

Is my campaign screwed?

Dang. If redeploying doesn't fix it, maybe so. Sometimes Tindalos reps will fix people's save files and send them back, maybe you can contact them? But you might be screwed, sorry.

Sometimes moving away, then moving back to the location resets triggers. Try that.

Otherwise, saves should be in order if using the default system, rather than starting from scratch, just load up a save slightly further back.
I'm not using the default system. I'm using the two-save system.

Ouch.

Contact their support.

You should never use a limited save system for any game in the past decade... it don't matter how polished a game is... a bug caused by anything can always show it's face and having a save to revert back to is standard procedure for me.
I mean, you're not wrong, but I feel like the two-save system, even on the Medium difficulty I'm playing on (first playthrough), adds much more intensity and gravity to my play. I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take.

I also finished my first playtrough on the two save system(very few people did that).

I highly recommend you to backup your saves once you fully complete a mission and before starting the next one.

Game has many random bugs and you do not want to get soft locked.

I'm currently stuck in the room at top with a sentry gun and need to reach the control room to the SW. i am constantly running into random aliens or cultists. What's the best way to maneuver on this level?

I just did it on Nightmare.
I spammed Scanners everywhere. And overloaded one on the other end of the map whenever necessary.
This way i wasnt spotted even once. At least not from Aliens.

Manuever tactics on Montero, my opinion. Control the chaos by opening as few doors as possible and leaving rearguard sentries so rovers don't come up behind you. This is the one map where I say you shouldn't bother trying to be a completist. Complete the main objectives and get out.

Speaking as if the elevator is the "center" of the map.

Don't open the north door. Try not to make noise close to the north door, and with a little luck the xenos will never tear it open.

Go south and clear to the south (sentry lure works well), and clear all the rooms that don't involve unlocking anything.

Leave three sentries in the dead end hallway that runs east-west, place them in the west dead end, pointing east. If aliens DO break the north door, this will kill them before they wander into your backside.

There are three doors to the east, unlock the middle one, then head east, staying as far south as possible. Hack the camera room, then move to be right outside the control room.

Before going in, drop two sentries facing south, to keep stuff from wandering into your backside.

Go north, clean out the control room, and clean all the other rooms except leave the eggs alone. Get the extra sentry and ammo, etc. Don't open any locked doors. Blow the wall to the armory.

You are done with the whole east side of the map, and will never do the central part. Forget the power objective, you don't need it.

Retrace your steps back to the elevator area, pick up your 2 sentries as you go, but leave the original 3 rearguard sentries.

Proceed south then west, Look at your original sentry rearguard, they are butted up against a wall facing east. You are now on the other side of that wall. Place a NEW sentry rearguard against that same wall, facing west. Use this as a fallback spot (you can hide in the large room to the south). Lure all the facehuggers you are about to see. to here

Head west, again hugging the south edge, and work your way to the bridge. Use the drone to scout every room before you open it. I *think* you can path around every room with eggs.

Make the run for the gas chip, then retrace back to the elevator, and you are done.

If you DO want to do all the optional stuff and get all the loot, then you are on your own. But turning on the power and rescuing the tech are both super dangerous. There's no way to setup a clean rearguard. I'd recommend cheesing the map with a lot of motion detectors,

Also, you do NOT want to fight a Type 2 Xeno in the Montero. Go up the elevator and trigger it topside, kill it, then come back to the Montero.

First thing first: This is a FULL-STEALTH mission, so forget to engage at all. At the start of the mission, when you fight the first wave of Cultist, after killing them go North. Then reach North-East for the first obj. The guy who will do the obj is NOT a DPS guy.

The first main wave will come from left, the second from right. 2 Sentries for each door is good. Flamethrowers and Suppression are mandatory.

Then, from this room, go straight East, then, when East is ended, go South.
Then, when South is ended, go East and again, when East is ended, go North to the next obj.

Clear the room from cultists, take the datapad and interact with the obj. Plenty of useful stuff in these rooms so take a look around and place LOTS of trackers (Like 10 minimum).
Proceed North, place the C4 in the room where's ammo boxes.
Go straight West, pass the defence room you've been before and keep west, you will reach the "CCTV" room. Keep proceeding West: You will have to open two blocked passages...

-> One with hacker
-> One with C4

Place more trackers in the way and activate them to force enemies away from you.
Keep proceeding West. In the far West side of the map, there's a big hive room where's the second datapad you need. In that room there are some eggs and some materials chests. The dapatad is in the center of the room.

Then, go to the West end to do the main obj and pick the last datapad. Now go to top North West area to do both objs and then exfil.
