they said aliens: colonial marines is canon too but it makes story wise no sense in the context of the movies.
All ive heard is that its "inspired by the movies". 1-3 i think? Could be wrong...
Whether I'm right is another matter. Hopefully, the upcoming Alien: Romulus and TV show will give more insight about if they are actually building an extended universe across mediums.
As long as there is a corporation, space marines, synths and the alien/predators, it would make sense.
Yeah but who is that guy really? It says he worked with Fox to develop a Alien tabletop game. Ok but I doubt that means this is definitive. It does maybe mean internally Fox recognized Isolation as being much higher quality than most Movie tie in products. Until a solid reference to Ripley's daughter appears in a future film though I would be doubtful.
Well they don't need to make a reference to Ripley's Daughter because that already was made on the Second Movie, and Amanda is already dead. Its more like Alien Isolation used Amanda as a way to tie it to the first movie since she is canon already.
But worse case just ignore it if you a sane person, like Dizzznay Stor Wars
Q: Where is Aliens: Dark Descent happening?
A: Aliens: Dark Descent’s story is set after the events of Alien, Aliens and Alien 3. The game takes place on a moon called Lethe.
So it is set 19 years after Alien 3 if it is considered as canon.

Actually Isolation is canon, since the official and high-profile tabletop RPG only acknowledges canon stories, and Isolation features prominently, while Colonial Marines does not (and isn’t canon).
Its "sequel"... the mobile game... isn't canon. It was officially said at first that it was canon, but that was withdrawn because some fans who didn't understand or know Isolation and Amanda's story in general were upset. Others were upset because it was mobile and not on the PC/console. (You can stream everything to a TV anyway)
There is also a list with canon audio titles available on audible - incl. Isolation.
When it comes to "alien canon statements" from the Internet, one must not forget that there are even a lot of "fans" who still think that Amanda is floating around in space. Or that there is only one Xenomorph there. And that's despite the fact that the game clearly shows the player something different. This means that some people on the Internet often just say something because otherwise it would no longer fit into their distorted picture of what is happening.
Unfortunately, Dark Descent has a few problems here and there when it comes to canon status. Two examples are the successful removal of the facehuggers or the plasma weapons. Neither of these things appeared in this form in the later titles, some of which are set centuries later. Decker had something similar in Sea of Sorrows, but that takes place way after Alien 4 and is set about 300 years after Aliens. As far as I know, there have even been discussions about this.
