Death clock
How are you guys managing it? I have not come so far but just read about it. I also discovered a mod which hugely prolongs the death clock to 999 days and stays there. What are your opinions about it; play the game as the developers intended (but also risk losing a campaign) or use the mod? I am just curious about peoples take on this.

My first run, on easy as I normally don't play top down games and I wanted to learn the mechanics, I completed the campaign with 10 days to spare. I'm on hard now and down to 16 days with 4 missions to go. I'm averaging 2 deploys per mission with 100% completion. I think the death clock is fine. No mod needed.

Edit: Just to add that the recent patch notes state that disabling death clock is possible with starting new campaign. Not sure if this affects achievements .

I have finished the prologue and come far. At least it feels like it even though I have not finished the first chapter 😃 I will try disabling the clock in a new playthrough.

For perspective, I did my first playthrough on normal and had around 10 days left on the clock when I finished the game. That was with me purposely taking extra days to farm materials and the like.

If you learn how the game mechanics work and what's expected of the player in general, then the clock shouldn't be an issue on normal or under unless you get some really bad luck with events.

But honestly, if the thought of a timer in general will stress you out, just disable it! Nothing wrong with that :steamhappy:

I played it on Normal and I ended the game with like 18 days on the clock. It just isn't an issue unless you're spending like 3+ days on each mission, besides triggering my instinctive anxiety about it.

Likewise, you could disable it for the campaign and it wouldn't really matter. It just stops you mashing the skip turn and gaining stupid amounts of resources.

its beyond merciful with the amount of days it gives you, the only thing it does is does its job.
Ie make it so you dont retreat every time threat level raises a bit and will have too fight some of the higher levels.

pushing throught with your main team even if it's mean them breaking down and if they do well if you have the perk for them to recover from trauma in 3 days you should be fine

Played on hard.
Had 4 days to spare because I only used 5 marines.
But the last 3 missions beside the "final" mission got completed on full hive activity, gun blazing and ton of fun.
It's not an issue. Honestly..
