Edit: Just to add that the recent patch notes state that disabling death clock is possible with starting new campaign. Not sure if this affects achievements .
If you learn how the game mechanics work and what's expected of the player in general, then the clock shouldn't be an issue on normal or under unless you get some really bad luck with events.
But honestly, if the thought of a timer in general will stress you out, just disable it! Nothing wrong with that
Likewise, you could disable it for the campaign and it wouldn't really matter. It just stops you mashing the skip turn and gaining stupid amounts of resources.
Ie make it so you dont retreat every time threat level raises a bit and will have too fight some of the higher levels.
Had 4 days to spare because I only used 5 marines.
But the last 3 missions beside the "final" mission got completed on full hive activity, gun blazing and ton of fun.
It's not an issue. Honestly..
