I would not call it rts game but tactical action game. One of those real time board game types.
- Save room didn’t work.
- Game crashed (wonderful in combination with the last point).
- Soldier disappeared during mission (startet with 5, then only had 4, no one died; disappeared completely even in the display).
- Soldier freezes while opening ammo crades (reload save game).
- Command points stopped refreshing.
- Aliens stuck in one area.
The mission (Montero) was somehow completely broken. It wasn’t like that on my first run.
So far, most of the mistakes have been merely annoying. You can play the game, but you should forget about anything like Iron Man, the game is too buggy for that. It seems that the developers do not have their code under control. Too bad, because the game has some fresh ideas and it is a good alien game by design.
I ended up refunding the game and getting into Baldur's Gate 3 instead. Aliens is something i would love to explore at a later date, but it's far from ironed out. Just look at feedback on developer Tindalos Interactive previous title, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. Same situation they ended up abandoning it after plenty of buyers pleading a working game.
Otherwise, the infamous cape for recon has been there, but if you are the kind of person who can't enjoy a game because some has Dr. Strange's cape, you probably gotta stop pooping in your own cereal every morning.
Otherwise this game is to Aliens movie what Alien: Isolation was to the Alien movie. Phenomenal for lovers of the universe.
It's still a bit buggy. I've only really encountered one major bug on my playthrough; the infamous "shoot everything on sight" bug. I was able to get around it but I wasted a bunch of resources doing so. Hopefully that's finally patched out soon.
It's a mixed bag. If you're familiar with Tindalos titles, it's their normal "pretty well done but here's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics for good measure" thrown in. A lot of the missions are really fun, tense, satisfying, but some of them are like dragging your ♥♥♥♥ through broken glass.
I'm about to finish it and I think I'm happy. Don't think there's too much in the way of replayability right now; there's no NG+ as far as I know, and I really don't want to replay certain parts of it anyway.
Probably worth getting on sale but if you like Aliens it's pretty good. It's definitely more stealth focused than the trailers and marketing material let on, though. You want to remain unseen for as long as possible.
I would buy the game now, since it seems like majority of the bugs have been sorted out. But my first playthrough was bit pain and I would not buy game on launch again. Since it seems to be the rule that games are getting released in messed up state.
I would 100% it but some achievement are a bit too annoying to do
I have ended the campaign on Normal in July. Started a new campaign after August the 1st patch to take a look.
Game is still super buggy with the interactive objects and pick up items in the map.
I dropped my gameplay with the game still in this state.
If the developers fix all that annoying bugs, the game is great for it's genere. But nowadays, its full of very frustrating bugs.
Very common in almost every game published by Focus. Red flag folks.
