To extract or not to extract?
Hi, I am kind of late to the party, I just found this game and quite like it. I am in the middle of first mission and I wonder what is better? Extract my team for no reason just because I want to or not? Is there some downside to either extracting or not extracting. By extracting for example I have taken many ammo crates so there will be less resources for future crews? By not extracting not having another squad leveled up? ...
Thanks for some info from experienced players

There are some things to consider if you shuld "extract" or not.

1) Every extraction will cost you a day. Every day will increase the "infestation" level. Which means: more aliens will spawn and missions get harder.

2) Marines will get tired after being on a mission. So you should have an A and B-Team for those missions. If you extract and run the same team again they will need to rest a day before you can pick them again.

3) If you team runs out of ammo and/or stress levels get close to 100% you might want to consider an extraction. No ammo = team whipe incoming. Too much stress = marines will get trauma (negative effects). Take ammo crates if you need them, but leave them if you are going to extract anyway. Ammo isn't stored so you'll just waste that crate.

4) After mission 5 there will be a dooms day clock ticking. You shouldn't waste too many days at that point.

TL;DR: Don't extract if you don't have to (enough ammo & supplies, low stress).

Thanks for very comprehensive answer. I will not extract then and push for the most possible objectives

You shouldn't stress too much about the days even with the doomsday clock ticking. I accidentally finished the game with more than 2 weeks remaining on the clock.

You pretty much need to extract if you run out of ammo. You also probably want to if the aggression level gets high. Stress isn't that bad so long as you keep some tools to create rest spots periodically. Most missions seem to end up taking at least 2 runs. So long as your not just messing around that's probably fast enough.
If you can, trigger all of the onslaughts before extracting. Each onslaught and miniboss gives the squad xp when completed. Regular kills don't give any.
