Ancient, underground city (spoiler)
Hi everyone,

I think the game is awesome and I really enjoyed playing it. However, I am sad to say that the ancient city / end mission was disappointing. I really hope these three points below can still be changed / added in a DLC.

1. Hayes, Martinez, and Stern are almost invulnerable. At least, suddenly a squad of three people can easily kill multiple aliens, and survive being surrounded and attacked. Of course, we didn't have that team before, because that would be too easy, but this changes the game from being tense and exciting to being an unexciting walk through a city. Yes, Hayes had some target practice throughout the game, but that doesn't account for her becoming a super soldier.

2. The giant alien: I'm sorry but that was too easy and disappointing. The alien was on top of the two escaping characters most of the way, but when you take a wrong turn it kills you. Even though it could have killed them almost every step of the way as it was right on top of them. (at least that was the case for me.)

3. We find a wonderful gigantic ancient underground city, but it's only one mission. I feel like this is a missed chance. I would have loved to uncover more, to discover areas filled with lore and mysteries. Or learn more about that gigantic alien that you will meet later on, to build up some feeling of suspense.

All in all, this mission was a contradiction to the rest of the game. Most of the game felt pretty intense and scary, which is good, but this last mission was anticlimactic. I wasn't scared, because the party felt so overpowered compared to the 'normal' marines we played with before. And during the chase the giant alien just slithers above of me hoping I make a wrong turn.

Thank you for reading.

Kind regards,

Athena

1) While I agree in parts with you, you actually become a lot weaker in the last third of the mission as soon as you play only as Hayes. So I guess you could say that Martinez and Stern are elite soldiers and were able to handle it. But with only Hayes you become vulnurable and much weaker (and can loose the mission from that point on, even though they give you checkpoints even on hard).

I understand that they want you to focus on the cinematics and feel rewarded after the mission before that. I was still confused (the same way as you) that your squad becomes invincible for a part of the mission. I would actually prefer to being able to loose the mission and have health bars even during the first parts of the mission. Without that, it almost becomes a bit boring.

2) The giant alien is always on top of Hayes but not on top of Cassandra (and if it is, you loose). At least that was my case... and it only wants her. But I found it a bit strange that there was even a Codex that told you to use your abilities against it to stun it. But when using those I almost always became slower due to the animations taking so long (switching between attack animation and run animation). It would have been more fun if you would really have to use your abilities to keep it at distance... but then the stun would need to last longer + the alien would need to be a bit faster.

But I have to say that it wasn't that much fun to constantly switch between the map view and ingame to avoid wrong turns. I had to restart 2-3 times from a checkpoint during that chase, which didn't feel good.

3) I fully agree. I would have liked to have a normal mission on that map and with those assets. Especially those scary egg fields could make for some fun encounters.

After the ending, I still keep my hopes up for another game with the same crew. And there they could use those alien city assets maybe. How about they wake up and suddenly the ship is heading to a strange destination and somethings not right on the ship... or something like that.

1. It is just an interactive epilogue.
2. You are supposed to slow it down with a grenade launcher when it gets too close.
3. They want to keep everything related to this as a mystery just like Space Jockey and Derelict Ship in movies.

Thanks for your comment Nobody . I get what you mean. To be honest the last mission did not feel as a reward, because you worked hard to get there with your marines then the marines get left behind and it gets easy to deal with the aliens. Also, I kept expecting the clones to have an important role to play as I advanced through the city. Additionally as you see the egg room that you have to walk through I fully expected something to happen and that excited me. I don't know... I guess, I just wanted an ending with a blast, because I feel that's what that awesome game deserves.

First of all thank you for your comment Kordelas . I would like to address the points you made.
1. Okay, but then maybe it would have been better to make it shorter, add jump scares or make it a full movie. Something to make it a bit more interesting. See previous paragraph.
2. Yeah, I didn't get that, but say for idiots like me :steamhappy: who also end the game running underneath a gigantic alien. Shouldn't the alien just kill Hayes too? Most aliens wouldn't mind taking that opportunity.
3. Fair enough, I thought of that too. Still... would love more content surrounding that, doesn't have to be huge. Especially because they introduced it into the final mission. Have a scene with a hologram that shows us something that happened.

2. The alien can kill characters by sweeping its hand. Anyways it is just an interactive epilogue.

Yes, but only if you take a wrong turn.

As intended by the devs.
