Low FPS anyone?
In the mission where you get an APC and a new marine slot, does anyone see that the FPS becomes extremely low, like 5~6? If so, please let me know how to fix it. I am playing on medium settings, with RTX 3050. The game seems to not use the GPU, as its usage is only 56%.

Yea sometimes that level will start to lag. You can reload or redeploy and it should go away.

The game does have some big of performance issues, even on good hardware.

I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800x with a 6800XT and I get insane frame drops at times.

I believe there is some sort of a memory leak in the game.

Exact same thing happened. Had no issues on that map until I started moving between the processor power room and the Garage. FPS tanked hard to below 20. Sometimes below 10. Restarting the game seemed to fix it.

Redeploying is not an option since it will lead to an early game over.
And some of us cant reload saves since we are playing ironman or semi-ironman.

Game runs perfectly otherwise.. Only had this problem in this mission in the basement area where you find the APC.

My game ran smoothly for about 12 hours total, then suddenly, after I stopped playing one day and started the game again (mission 2, where we first encounter the sleepy drones), the performance tanked (~20FPS), and now it's always at low FPS even after full computer restart, I don't understand what changed.

I tried lowering settings (was on EPIC) command line switches (-dx11 -fullscreen -useallavailablecores), GPU driver update, game mode on/off, to no avail.

Did anyone experience something similar?

Did you cap frames to 60 for this game and lower its resolution to 1080p or even below 1080p?
Do you run it on desktop or laptop PC?
It runs on UE4. Perhaps it does not manage assets properly on weak hardware especially when it adds more elements to game environment (dead bodies, etc.) and during swapping assets.

I didn't try FPS cap, I'll give it a shot (from NVIDIA control panel).

I tried lowering res down to 720p but it's still the same low FPS.
Also, I don't have the new update yet (the one mentioned in the pinned discussion) so maybe that'll help when it drops.

What's puzzling is that the game was running until that point.
First time I went deep into the warehouse without FPS issue, died in it, and when I reloaded (last checkpoint is outside the warehouse), FPS was degraded and stayed...

They changed something in graphical assets management in the first updates.
IMO they should implement frame capping inside the game options. Otherwise game runs loose this way up to about 130 frames as some people report.
Hypothetically it takes a lot GPU resources but it is not stable. Therefore it goes down all of a sudden.

I started a new game and it runs super smooth (at the capped 60 FPS), so it's something that happens in mission 2 when reaching that warehouse with the sleeping drones, maybe a new asset that affects FPS, like the rain.
After that it's sill stable but 15~20 FPS instead.

Try it again by keeping framerate capped, lowering resolution to 720p and on the lowest graphical settings. Just for experimentation purposes.
How much time did you spend on this map since you started playing there?
I am not sure how it is implemented but dead bodies should stay there. Perhaps there is some limit to this but I do not know how it is set. It could overload hardware resources if there are too many of them.

I tried 720p in LOW that and it's still ~20FPS.

The map is thoroughly explored (the mission is 84% complete), I don't recall staying there for too long. Also, I brought back my squad and re-deployed, sill same thing.
When exiting and reloading the game, the bodies of slain enemies disappear.

I did a comparison of resource usage between the two, that's interesting:

Mission 1
60+ FPS
CPU usage 30%
GPU usage 50%
RAM usage ~2GB

Mission 2
15-20 FPS
CPU usage 20%
GPU usage 20%
RAM usage ~2.3GB

(there's barely any disk activity in either case)

I'd say that there's some optimization issue, hardware is not being put to its pace as it should. I can't tell what it is struggling on. Maybe rain but it seems it's there from the start, I should have noticed earlier.

Since I restarted a new game, I'll try to spend less time snooping around and see if the FPS drop happens at the same moment in the game, if at all.

It seems more like they made some error by trying to optimize the game through updates.
Do you have Vsync turned on or off in game options?

Vsync is off.
Yeah, something linked to that warehouse probably.

I have a savegame that allows me to reliably reproduce the issue, it's right after I cleaned the command room exited through the elevator, the next objective is to reach the warehouse, there's a fight where a bunch of dudes bum rush me as I exit , the FPS drop happens just after this fight.

Perhaps they messed something on that map by fixing some bug which was reported to them or they accidentally capped frames for this part of the mission.

I don't have the new update, it did not show up on Steam yet.
I have
App ID: 1150440
Build ID: 11616624
Installed content updated: Jul 6, 2023 at 10:54 AM

So maybe I'll get a fix... We'll see.
I'll also try to push through that warehouse despite tanking FPS and see if the issue is still there on next mission, but I want to do that on a second save slot, to not lose the savegame that I can use to reproduce the issue.
