XP Gain from Level 2 Xenomorphs?
Can anyone confirm if you get XP from level 2 xenomorphs outside of the narrative "Boss" encounters? Sometimes I have an additional XP (going from 11 to 12) after killing a Crusher in the open map exploration, but it seems kind of inconsistent? Like if the ARC kills it and my marines are nowhere in sight, definitely no XP.

BUT I've definitely gotten an XP that I can't attribute to anything else after fighting them with combined arms (including the ARC). I've tried killing them with turrets and mines, but the ARC not around, but no XP that time.

Does it only grant XP if one of your Marines delivers the killing blow?

Any insight would be appreciated, I'm only playing on Medium difficulty and am trying to squeeze a few extra XP by maxing out the threat rating and Massive Onslaughts before extracting.

**UPDATE**
OK, I just tried it again and killed a crusher with ONLY marine gunfire; no turrets, no mines.

XP went from 11 to 12 :)

After finding the XP bar in mission, i can confirm that they do not provide XP. Onslaughts do, however.

Btw, you can find the XP bar by going to your map then clicking the tab "overview" or somthing or other like that.

Hey! See my update above. You definitely CAN get XP from killing Crusher in exploration, but it either requires your marines to deal the killing blow, or is just buggy.

Happy hunting!

XP is gained from completing mission objectives and surviving onslaughts. Killing individual xenomorphs doesn't get you XP.

Except, there's three onslaughts to maximum aggression, and only two Cat 2 xenos, and my squad of all fresh privates deployed to dead hills to ''farm'' xenosamples just came back with 2 exp gained, despite hitting max aggression.

And yes... they killed a crusher with runner backups using only their service pistols and the gods gift to mankind... Sentry guns.

I can confirm that yesterday (on current patch). I was busy with marines elsewhere and crusher spawned on the opposite side and went through my ARC - it killed him and I got +1 exp on all marines.

It must be buggy, I don't get exp from killing boss xenos if they were spawned by aggression meter, no matter how I kill them.

The XP from Onslaughts also seems inconsistent/buggy. It seems like if the Onslaught xenos can't pathfind to your marines (such as if they're travelling in the ARC or if the onslaught spawn point is in an inaccessible part of the map, like at the top Berkley's Dock) the Onslaught is immediately over but your marines don't get XP.

Also, my testing leads me to believe that killing the cat 2 xenos won't grant XP if the sentry guns deliver the killing blow.

Hmmm seems like inconsistent XP gains needs to be seriously addressed by the devs. I haven't notice any instances of getting XP from killing a Crush with just the ARC.

The in-game documentation also states that you get XP for killing "Boss" xenos. The main point of confusion is wether "Boss" only applies to narrative boss encounters (like the first time you fight the crusher in Dead Hills) or if killing that level of xenos during exploration also grants XP.

Which a lot of people are reporting that it does, but inconsistently.

No argument there. A lot of things have to be fixed, that's why I decided to mention that it felt surprising that I did actually get that exp, even though I was no way present or close to the spot where ARC killed crusher.

Keep in mind if a NPC like the APC or turret gets the kill shot on a lvl 2 spawn you wont get the xp

I have found that I also don't get the XP if one of my mines kills it, but so far I think direct fire abilities like Suppressing FIre, grenades, and the sniper shot do work.

I just keep the map up right when the gauge is about to hit the level 2 threat, try to spot which spawn point a dot comes out of that moment and then go hunt it down right away with just guns and 'nades.

Works pretty well except on the cowardly praetorians.
