How do you change the squad leader?

I have been trying to do it in deployment but shuffling their position but the leader is always the same guy.

Pretty annoying since the leader is usually the 1st to see an enemy and I would much prefer if it was the recon.

You can't manually choose squad leader it's determined by the classes in your squad. Check the codex in game it gives you the order on who takes priority.

The tip of the spear, independently of command, should be the recon. I mean, it's his job to be the 1st.

So true, sometimes it is hard to snipe aliens if the recon is lagging behind :-(

had the same issue, hopefully it can be moded to change that since I wanted to set it up so that the sniper could run as much stealth as possible though the mission until we're all ready or forced by the game to go loud. best i can do is line up a shot in a passing Straif down a hallway with the Recon being the one guy to sit still long enough to make the shot whilst the whole rest f the squad hops into the other room.
