Berkeley's Docks - Can't save the civilian
I already freed the civ from the cocoon but when entering the top room a cutscene started and woosh - gone was my cicilian (that i carried with one of my solldiers straight from my shoulders) never to be seen again. The secondary objective remained saying "location undefined".
dont have a save before the mission (nightmare) so either i completely start a new game or i just roll with it - no 100% for me then.

Plz as long as the game is bugged give us a save after each mission and dont overwrite it. this is really bad.

You'd have to go back and carry the fellow. Hes not dead just looks like it. He's located on the second floor before the command room where you had to defend before you exit through the elevator.

I am really dissapointed with this mission there was so many bugs for me it is unreal, like the engine.

I still have this problem :-(

My routine for Berkeley's Docks is to get the civilian out of the cocoon, carry him down to just outside the room with the hostages, put him down, and clear that room and rescue the hostages. Then I pick him back up and take the hostages back to the ARC, before returning to the second floor and tackling the command center. I have never encountered any problems finding the dude I dropped. I do remember one situation where I had a problem picking up a guy, but that was because I dropped him too close to a wall or something, and he was out of reach or something. Drop him in the open, and you should not have any problem.

I always do it the same way. Rescue hostages, then get the guy in the wall. Carry him into the last room and do the fight. Then drop him down on the floor and pick him up after fight.
Done it 14 or 15 times now, lost count. Never had that kind of problem.
I had a somewhat same thing happen on a later mission, freed a person on a wall and he just fell through the floor somewhat and could not be targeted anymore.

But thing is. The game engine does not like to be pushed to its limit. If you notice fps drops, then sometimes it is best to save and reload.

This is only the second mission, easy solution would be to restart campaign.
Also possible is to reset the second mission and just do that again.

this worked for me
I just ran into this one. I had already rescued the hostages and took them back to the ARC for evac. I pushed on and found the route to the command center. I then noticed that I hadn't found the civilian, so I rescued the civilian from the cocoon. I put the civilian down in the little medical area just before the command center. I then went through the scripted pre-battle sequence. I fought the battle and then kind of forgot about the civilian. I got down to the main floor and remembered, so I went back and couldn't find the civilian anywhere. I loaded from a save, couldn't find him. I returned to the base and got a new batch of marines, returned and looked again, and still couldn't find him. Finally, I went to the warehouses and fought all of those battles. Then I went back one more time...and found the civilian just where I had left him previously. When I went back I searched thoroughly, so I'm thinking this is some kind of subtle bug.
avoid the bug: Save everyone before entering the top room.
My "standard" run at nightmare is:

1) Trig the runner bug
2) Go for cacoon guy
3) Go for C4 hostages room
4) Exfil everybody (This will unbug the hive due to the elevator effect)
5) Continue with the mission

If you can't bug the runner (Because is a specific thing) just do the same with tracker spam.
