There is bug in mission 7, no save

Mission 7 is hard enough, but it's even harder to play without the saves after the marines rest.
I tried turning the pc off and on, restarting the game, but the problem persists, the game only autosaves at certain times after finishing an objective.
do others also have the same problem?

A lot (probably most of players). It's a well known bug. But ignored in the last patch for some reason.

Devs said they are aware of that, but the fix would not be included in a recent patch, for whatever reason.

As a workaround I did objectives on the right side of the ship first, away from the elevator, then retreated back to Otago. Will try to finish remaining quests on the second attempt.

I am playing on hard and this is the first bug that I have encountered. It is really annoying.

Feel free to abuse motion trackers to lure drones and runners away from you. Placing mines at the corridor crossroads to passively kill roaming aliens helps a lot as well. I even place 1-2 turrets nears alien spawn points to keep roamers from coming to my current area of exploration as well. Playing on hard and I used this approach to complete the mission and keep my marines relatively sane.

Next missions get easier, a bit.
