It's a common mechanic used in many games, XCOM had many versions of this. Did you not pay attention to how many days are left? Also 96 days?
My man.
No, I've never played XCOM and other such games with this mechanic - I assumed there was a way around it gameplay-wise - otherwise sensible in-game saves that allow you to load an old save game would be user-friendly and would make sense. Now i have to install a Mod for this .. well now i know - thanks for the info about the Mod <3
Get the feeling that mod *might* get broken by the devs in order to keep the design purpose of the game. After finishing the game 1 or 2 days ago, I think there's going to be a lot of fixes to the loopholes (not necessarily bugs) that are, in my view, game breaking. Like for example, limiting the amount of motion trackers per map. That would really suck for me.
and the game itself aint telling you how many missions left to run till you can "avoid" the bombing...so it rly sucks. There are sooo many missions, and even missions which are bugged or force you to escape and come again...after your troop has healed.
That timer rly sucks, that way!!!!
The doom clock starts after you have completed mission 5.
On the easiest setting it starts on 30 days, on the hardest setting it starts on 20 days.
For mission 6 you're forced to deploy twice to complete the mission, so that's 2 days gone.
Mission 7 can be done in a single deployment, so that's another day gone.
Mission 8 can be done in a single deployment and mission 9 starts automatically after mission 8, so it takes place on the same day, so you only lose 1 day to do both missions.
Mission 10 can be done in a single deployment, so that's another day gone.
When you start mission 11, as long as you do it in a single deployment, you have beaten the doom clock. This is because mission 12, the final mission, automatically starts after mission 11, so it takes place on the same day.
So basically, once the doom clock starts you can complete the game from that point using only five deployments at minimum. Which means you only need to heal and rest your squad 6 times once the doom clock starts, after missions:
5
6 (part 1)
6 (part 2)
7
9
10
The second part of mission 6 is so short compared to the first that your squad will have only a minimum of injuries, or none at all, and will only be tired at worst, not exhausted. So it's more like five proper recovery periods between the missions before you complete the game.
When you look at it like that the doom clock of 20-30 days is actually pretty generous.
