Ah, thanks for the notice. That won't bother me much since you can just load the save before you started whatever mission took you way too many days.
You can be stealthy, in which case playing takes a long time, but it's generally safe and you can usually do a mission in 2-3 segments. Some people seem to bring the best firepower and just gung-ho through it all, ignoring the aggression level. Also, I only recently learned here on the forums that Techie drones don't aggro aliens, so the past 2 missions (10-11) I sent my drone to explore everything while I was safely tucked away behind a minefield and sniper cover making sure not to aggro anything. Exploring that way is super fast and relatively risk-free. WeyU can still shoot your drone down, but it's a blessing in disguise because if you just aggro them and escape, the dumb AI instead starts to run for your soldiers. So you get to clear much of the map while in your best defensive positions, instead of storming rooms where they are waiting for you behind cover. Otherwise the drone lets you know exactly where all the loot is, what doors are worth decrypting, and just lets you explore as close to no risk as you can.
No more forcing your way through 10 dormant aliens and 15 eggs with constant patrols coming in from behind you to explore a room that has nothing of value.
After the doom clock appears I'll probably do the missions in 2-3 deployment depending on the time.
Also you should skip the events where you lose deployments. They are not worth your time unless your squads need recovery.
Just like you can skip deployment every once in a while and still be fine.
It's plenty time even on Nightmare and there's no point in stressing over it, just play it at your own pace as we all should.
Thank you for the additional info! You and I might have a similar playstyle in this game. I usually have an aggressive style but I'm enjoying stealth so far.
