Broken stress mechanic?

So my understanding was that stress should only go up while hunted/detected/combat or if you have some kinda trauma/trait? I'm doing the Montego mission.. and the second I come out of a rest room (while still undetected and out of combat) my stress starts going up on all my guys. I have zero trauma and no bad traits to raise it.. but it just keeps going up. This cant be right?

Just Rest in a room when it presents itself or extract out. In my case I just use mind of steel and it will go away but there is a Room in the med bay with 5 slots that will remove the Trial later on.

yes, it's a bug. my campaign is stuck in mission 05 because of it. will continue playing after a fix.

Yes i have tried to rest multiple times.. (running out of tools now) and every time i come out of rest (as stated in original post) the stress starts ticking up right away

as far as extracting out .. sure that would be fine if it wasn't for the doomsday clock.. at a certain point in the game you have a set number of days to win or its game over.. and every time u extract out ... you lose a day
