Squad Wipe.
The game has great elements and poor elements equally at this stage - with time this could be fantastic BUT !!!. Having a squad wipeout terminate the game whilst you have healthy marines back in the Otago waiting to deploy is unforgivable and makes this game totally illlogical to the point of breaking it. I wont be returning until this is addressed.

What is the point of perma death and other great X-COM like mechanics that could make you care about your troops if one wipe-out kicks you from the game ?

It makes me think that fundamentally the developers do not understand the essential quality that made X-COM world class and perma death and squad management special.

Bugs aside, this is my biggest problem with the game. It degrades the strategic layer and immersion

Well, for those who want it, a hardcore mode would be nice.

IF there are no save-breaking bugs. Otherwise ur screwed.

I do feel that the squad wipe game over screen is some sort of oversight seeing as you can lose all but one Marine and withdraw to the Otago, I do hope this will be addressed in a future update.

I'm guessing it was put in for the parts of the story or mission structure which would break if squad wipes were not a game over.

There's a couple of times your team are trapped and have to do things before they can escape.
If they died at that point, and the story just continued how would the plot work? Do the new team have to go through the process of getting trapped again? What about the missions where story characters would be killed as a result? (Like that one mission with the ARC).

I absolutely get were you are coming from, but this just isn't that game.

A little dramatic to say it breaks the game. While I do agree it would be nice to continue after a wipe saying it breaks the game makes you seem high maintenance. Relax

It's a game so don't let your squad get wipe out.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense that a full squad wipe would end your progress.

It could be either an oversight or a an intentional design, who knows.

But let's be real here as well ; sending a group of Marines to retrieve the tags of you fallen would yield a crap ton of XP since it's 4 marines -- maybe they don't want this to happen because I can see this as a legit strategy by letting your squad wipe and send in better dudes with better attributes and gain a boat load of xp.

I mean it would totally be cool as hell to go back in with another squad and see the bodies of the squad before you plasterred over the walls.

they didnt add this in the last update?

XCOM also had missions where squad wipe would end the game.

ehhhhhh... I lean toward no. Game wouldn't have the same effect for me if I could just send in another squad. my first squad wipe was the first encounter with the a queen. Never. saw. the facehuggers coming. Once I noticed everyone rolling around i moved my last marine over like WTF and then he got obliterated by the queenie.

oh man.. That was the point i fell in love with the game. 11.5 hours later i'm into mission 2.

Didn't know party wipes were game over. Seems a bit lame, specially if you have more marines.
