IF there are no save-breaking bugs. Otherwise ur screwed.
There's a couple of times your team are trapped and have to do things before they can escape.
If they died at that point, and the story just continued how would the plot work? Do the new team have to go through the process of getting trapped again? What about the missions where story characters would be killed as a result? (Like that one mission with the ARC).
I absolutely get were you are coming from, but this just isn't that game.
It could be either an oversight or a an intentional design, who knows.
But let's be real here as well ; sending a group of Marines to retrieve the tags of you fallen would yield a crap ton of XP since it's 4 marines -- maybe they don't want this to happen because I can see this as a legit strategy by letting your squad wipe and send in better dudes with better attributes and gain a boat load of xp.
oh man.. That was the point i fell in love with the game. 11.5 hours later i'm into mission 2.
