How to deal with Alien Queen on Nightmare

Alright so, as soon as you start the fight, face huggers start from the north and drones spawn from the south, with the Queen charging. How do you manage to deal with everything???

The Drones take forever to kill with bullets, face huggers are a 1 hit KO to kill you, and the Queen is.... the Queen.

Im CONSTANTLY restarting from my rest point. This is getting ridiculous. My 15th try now.

imagine people starting their first run on the highest difficulty and going on the forums to cry about not being able to figure out a strategy to overcome .

3 sentry guns and lots of shotgun usage.
4 tools so you can get more command points for more shotgun blasting.
1 sentry watching the flank, 2 helping with queen.

Each shotgun blast will usually stun her, so dont use them all at once.

I won, but I lost my favorite marine. :( I might jsut have to restart but... maybe not. Just one marine lost even though hes my favorite? im sure ill find more. It is beginning of the game.

My standard is more sentry guns. Later in the game the Rocket Launcher is BROKEN good for killing queens. flamethrowers are good for killing facehuggers, but so are grenades and sentries.

Honestly nightmare feels like the right way to play to me. I started it on hard at first and made mistakes that really should have been a wipe. As for queens once you get RPGs they become trivial as long as you grenade the face huggers first, but the first queen is rough due to the cutscene taking your time to prep or react.

It was the guy that was stuck in the prison. Torrance. I liked him for whatever reason. lol




Anyways, Im finding the right strategy is, use my flamethrower to block off the area where the queen is, set up your first sentry, and then grenade the face huggers. Use the flamethrower atgain and set up another sentry, and repeat.

Pretty much right after posting this, im now winning but having to restart due to either a glitch((I had a marine fall through the floor. RIP))

Sounds like you need to git gud. I'm on the sixth mission on nightmare no issues. You just don't know how to deal with the Queen.

You should set up your sentries, a flare and a suppression before you engage. With a couple shotgun blasts to interrupt and clean the trash she will not hit you at all. Just a heads up for the tougher fights ahead from a fellow nightmare enjoyer.

Well, the queen is now easy for me. Whats the problem is the hunt following > into the massive onslaught > into a hunt > into a crusher > into a hunt. This is what im dealign with right now.

Well, the queen is now easy for me. Whats the problem is the hunt following > into the massive onslaught > into a hunt > into a crusher > into a hunt. This is what im dealign with right now.

Learn how to use the recon emitters to bait drones towards one side of the map so you can clear without interference.

You'll never have to deal with hordes unless you just keep messing up.

For that one I think I set up 2 Sentries with Flares. I lured her into a Mine for huge damage, plus Shotguns. The Flares really help though, big fan.

As someone said above, later in the game make sure to get the rocket launcher as well. It'll take about 3/4 of a queen's health.

Ooof. Not on nightmare it doesnt.
Takes about 1/4th for me, which is still really good, but maybe its cuz it was a queen farther into the story and they are more tough?
