I kinda wish that Aliens hiding in vents perhaps didn't move as often, so you had to be paying closer attention to notice where they are waiting to ambush. That way, you could actually risk being ambushed if you just sprint through every zone, but if you walked through certain zones you might be able to notice the expanding "detection ring" and avoid it.
They could pair such a change with making such ambushes less frequent.
I disagree with it being a problem to make it "slow" though. Right now you can basically sprint through most parts of the game, since running has no real penalty besides not being able to fire your weapons (which is irrelevant with a 100% accurate and long-range motion tracker).
I like it being "slow," but I admit that the current ambushing mechanic is a bit pointless.
Pointless, as I said, because the Aliens waiting to "Ambush" show up as a constant giant white dot on the map that doesn't move, making it trivial to avoid them.
Pretty much, you just wait. I like the idea, just wish it was implemented differently.
I think they should have made the circle invisible and the alien not visible on the tracker, forcing the player to use their eyes and ears to see if the vents are safe, and failing that, the alien should grab the marine and start dragging them into the vent forcing the rest to have to free the marine like we do with runners and facehuggers or else they get abducted.
