I have never played an STR on the pad, nor on a small screen, I would like a feedback please :D
Because the game din't came out with Steam Deck or Linux support. But, with proton it works out of the bat.
I'd say it's playable. With graphics settings at Medium and FSR set to Extreme Quality (or whatever the name of the highest quality FSR setting is, the Performance setting is noticeably ugly) it's 40-ish fps during a massive onslaught. Without FSR I clocked around 30-ish fps during an onslaught.
I tested it on Pioneer Station, so that map may not be representative of the performance you'll get on every mission, but you could always drop the settings down to Low if need be.
The one caveat I'd add is that for some reason opening and closing the map causes the game to hitch and the fps to crater. It recovers pretty quickly, but if you opened the map right as something was about to attack you, you probably couldn't close it again in time to react. I never noticed that happening on my desktop PC.
Opening/closing the map still causes the game to hitch, though. Still, I'd consider it playable.
I was testing something with Steam set to Offline Mode, and it still ran. Seems to be fine.
