I haven't tried it on the steam deck but, I'm sure it installs fine and well. I'm running it on manjaro KDE and the game installs and plays well. I had no crashes or or problems running it. More performance and that seems more game wide than operating system.

Works great on deck for me as well. Locked mine at 30fps and got textures set to medium.

runs fine on the steam deck. Lock 40 with 10 watts and 1200 mhz. All low except for antialiasing. I would play it more on it, but I'm so used to mouse and keyboard controls that relearning everything to use the controller setup is not something I'm willing to do atm

How is the pad experience?
I have never played an STR on the pad, nor on a small screen, I would like a feedback please :D

anyone know why steam says it's unsupported because graphics can't be fixed?

Because the game din't came out with Steam Deck or Linux support. But, with proton it works out of the bat.

plays great on my end

any game with full or partial controller support usually works on steam deck even if it is listed as unsupported. You can always change the controller bindings to correspond with certain keyboard shortcuts for any game.

Does anyone know how it works without internet? Im planning on going on a flight and would love to play this the entire trip if possible.

Installed on my Steam Deck after the latest patch.

I'd say it's playable. With graphics settings at Medium and FSR set to Extreme Quality (or whatever the name of the highest quality FSR setting is, the Performance setting is noticeably ugly) it's 40-ish fps during a massive onslaught. Without FSR I clocked around 30-ish fps during an onslaught.

I tested it on Pioneer Station, so that map may not be representative of the performance you'll get on every mission, but you could always drop the settings down to Low if need be.

The one caveat I'd add is that for some reason opening and closing the map causes the game to hitch and the fps to crater. It recovers pretty quickly, but if you opened the map right as something was about to attack you, you probably couldn't close it again in time to react. I never noticed that happening on my desktop PC.

Update: Performance does vary depending on the map. I ended up switching to Low settings with refresh/FPS set to 40, like Nivran.

Opening/closing the map still causes the game to hitch, though. Still, I'd consider it playable.

I was testing something with Steam set to Offline Mode, and it still ran. Seems to be fine.
