Sadly the soldier does not move , your sniper guy need to have line of sight from his positionning. So you generally play against being seen by thje drones, you can also get in cover and use it and then only the sniper will pop his head out to snipe the drone. Still require line of sight.
That's where you use mines.
Nope to that as this ability completely breaks the intended tutorial stealth level with sleepers - you can shoot them in that very much cramped space up close out of cover you're supposed to be using for sneaking around. And if you're cautious and use turrets before opening doors to big nasty places, the queen will die before the game will even say to you that this is a stealth mission and you can skip the killing this time. That was... a huge lol moment.
Has been VERY useful on many occasions. Just equip the silencer on it.
I don't know... It just seems like the stealth system in this game is very limited for how much gameplay relies on it.
That said, more and more publishers (sadly still not in masses...) are hiring skilled QA people. Meantime, because it's also Focus Home Interactive, I fear the worse for the upcoming iconic Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 (originally from Relic Entertainment). But for their defense and for my surprise they did do a full co-op campaign the fans of the first one were asking for... though, I really hope it will not compromise other aspects of the game for... a time saver. And maybe, for sure, proper QA.
I've on occasion managed to shotgun or grenade a group of enemies (mostly eggs) fast enough that it didn't trigger a hunt.
And mine spam counts as stealth.
As does using motion tracker overloads to lure enemies into sentry-gun ambushes and more mines.
But I completely agree that the game needs more stealth options, especially when that sniper is SUCH a pain in the backside to position correctly.
I just took 10 minutes to cross one large room with four hibernating drones, just because I had to keep tweaking everyone's positioning to line up the shot. The game DESPERATELY needs a "you go specifically here" button for such moments.
On that I highly doubt going for a true stealth mechanic would have been a wise game design choice taking into account you are facing not some basic peons but the iconic aliens which are masters of stealth. BUT with that in mind, they could have thought a bit more their combat mechanics and traversal as it was done in the amazingly good Thunder Tier One game. Example: you open the door, your people are hidden on the sides of it, the alien behind is surprised making a pause, that pause is your stealth moment to kill it before it kills you.
