Berkley Docks Warehouse Stealth Issue (spoilers)

Just started the warehouse mission in Berckley Docks where the game introduces the new stasis mechanic for the xenomorph. Shortly after that there is a primary objective in a room with a queen alien.

The voice lines upon entering the room with the queen state she has not seen you and that you dont need to fight yet if you dont want to. After hearing this I ran up to the barrels as you first enter the door that provide full cover, but the queen keeps detecting me behind them?

Are you supposed to be able to stealth this section? Am I doing something wrong?

Are you actually USING crouch? You cant just be behind cover in the barrells; you must also hit CTRL to crouch your men. Honestly though, its better to killer her for the Xenotech upgrade and alien mats anyways.
