Why are the marines so... ugly?

The face models are so bad for the marines and the main characters ain't lookers either. Why did they opt to make men and womens faces so similar they all look like men and all look bad. Hopefully theres mod support or better faces added in the future.

there is for sure wokeness but all models are about the same.. I mean no hom0 but the main soldier guy imo is 1 the best looking models in the game, though of course he is very basic.

But there are games with far worse models and I think this was just simply the best they could do and it good enough, especially since you don't see them that much in most the gameplay, ie its not like its xcom where you get countless zoom ins of them etc...

The female marines seem to use the same bodies as the male marines. Except for the arms.

All marines appear to be the same height regardless of gender.

So that could be improved.

Ferro, Dietrich, and Vasquez all look like normal women. They didn't have to be models and no one said a word. The female marines in this game however all look either brain damaged (face 1), like a man (face 6), or just plain stupid.

It's an RTS game. An AA game at that. They're not going to make parts of the game that are not the main focus, super realistic. RTS games in general don't have fantastic face models because of that reason. It's not the main focus.

It's also why Elden Rings faces are all so ugly. You barely ever see them or talk to them.

1. Characters in the Alien universe have generally not been physically attractive.
2. Modern Western 'progressive' attitudes require female videogame characters to be unattractive and androgynous, as a counter to 'chronic' toxic masculinity and the objectification of women. A hot woman is a no-go. But a biological male dressing and trying to act like a woman demands celebration. Even on a beer can.

Its a win-win position for the woke. At least for this game.

If you want hot videogame girls, there's always Feet Fighter 6 and Resident Evil Village.

Is this a meme? Who the fúck cares what they look like, you are going to looking at them from the top down 99% of the time. Could the models be better? Absolutely. Does it make the slightest bit of difference they're not? No.

I totally agree - it's not a matter of 'attractiveness', 'progressiveness' or whatever - it's a matter of the game's poor art design. Many games aim for 'commonly-looking characters' as a means to increase immersion, but the marines' faces in this game are straight-up ugly, not 'common'.
I'd expect their faces to be 'invisible' when you bring up a character sheet to level up, change loadout, or whatever - but these faces immediately draw attention because they look off.
So no - I don't need hot-looking marines, I need commonly-looking marines that don't look like aliens.

I don't really care that they're pretty unattractive (not average, but actually unattractive), but yes, their features are very... angular.
