Numbers say everything in every aspect, imagine not knowing that.
Weird post, man.
Every Aliens fan gamer would know that fireteam elite exists and was a total bag of poop, which as you can see by the numbers here clearly have taken a toll, different studio, different genre but people will still see the last massive Aliens fail, clearly if you cannot see that you must have something wrong with you.
Fireteam Elite was perfectly fine.
334 in game right now, now try fanboy me some more.
It's 2 years old. Personally I can't stomach any game for longer than a month, no matter how well I rate it. Fireteam elite wasn't a bad game by any stretch at all. You only need 4 players to enjoy a match so 334 seems fine to me. Also if you are going by steam charts, thats a massive failure of your logic right there, most people play it for free on the microsoft game pass, which most players will obviously use the free copy on there rather than pay full price.
Not perfectly fine, but a fun game, great vibe.
A good game keeps a player base no matter how old it is, a bad game gets no new players to it because it is a well known bag of crap to avoid, and unfortunately with a game like this even though it is completely different it still carries the Alien name and has to deal with the misfortunes of the previous Alien instalment.
Same goes for say superman on the n64, not one developer will go anywhere near it because it will no matter what get put against it, dev's have pitched and tried but got destroyed because of the way people look at previous instalments carrying the same name, look it up.
So, again, weird post my dude.
Weird post maybe but it is basic business and marketing mate, if you went into a mc donalds say and had a horrible experience, even if a seperate mc donalds sold completely different burgers and were fantastic you would not go in because of your previous experience associated with the name, so easy to understand and i guarantee you the dev's of this game were fully aware of what i am saying right now, it does make real sense and is undeniably a factor.
I will buy this because it is alien however, but the once bitten twice shy factor does take its toll.
lmao. Perfectly fine. Not perfectly good, or perfectly amazing. Just sits, nice and comfortably, perfectly at the fine level.
You are all being weird if you are going off steam charts. As I said before, most people play it for free on the microsoft game pass, why would we buy it on steam also? Ofc the steam numbers are gonna be low when you can play it for free on a subscription that almost everyone I know has.
For Dark Descent, the playerbase is even more irrelevent since it is a very focus single player experience. I just bought Warcraft 3 campaign again just yesterday to experience the great story like a decade ago. Good single player games are eternal and insulated from decling playerbases. Just hope these developers put in a lot of bug fixes, QoL improvements, and DLC before calling it quits.
