Hunt only happens if the marines are spotted by the enemy.
The APC wont trigger a hunt, so use it to kill wandering aliens.
Sneak as much as you can. If your marines get stressed, find a 1 door room and rest.
This manualy saves the game and reduces 100 points of stress.
You gotta weld all doors in a room and a green text on top of the screen will pop up saying you can rest. Rest areas are indicated on the map with a little green house.
The best way to play is the antithesis to the film version Aliens in that your best bet is to totally avoid being detected where possible, and where it's not, make sure you have enough spare parts to be able to secure a room (ideally with only one door). If you check the map it'll show you the rooms with a little green house on them. Those are the ones you can secure. If you do that, you'll get a text message saying that you can rest. Click the button and you'll get to see what benefits it gives you.
Aside from that, yes just avoid the aliens even if it doesn't seem very 'marine-like'.
@blinkninja1 - In terms of day 3 with 40 percent done, I can't say. I was up to 57% by the end of the first day, which itself may not be good. I couldn't go back the second day myself due to injuries and a random mission option that killed the deployment. I would guess that with the planetary threat going up daily, as long as you're exploring the map to bring back all the consumables (anything you find but don't use gets brough back to the ship and can be used without spending resources in future missions) you should be about alright I'd think. Also, resting takes a few seconds of cutscene and doesn't require any specific waiting time beyond that.
Then again, I'm not that far through myself so I can't be sure.
I highly recommend getting used to using the motion trackers to distract enemies. You will need to utilize that skill later on when the bugs are thick in areas you need to explore.
Eventually you can utalize things like landmines and the sniper to get a few bugs out of the way. But spawn times for some areas is so low that sometimes you just HAVE to sneak or combat push thru.
Speaking of. Sniper shot with silencer will allow you to do certain rooms later on due to specific enemies squatting. So highly recommend getting a recon with it.
Otherwise practice your stealth and getting the hang of having welders ready for that rest when your stress level goes up.
