Is anyone even hyped for this game?
For me I was a bit hesitant ever since Colonial Marines and Fireteam Elite but I remember so many people were hyped and that most of my friends wishlisted this game but as soon it was shown to be a Isometric game and another Fireteam Clone and looking too clean, all the hype died instantly, everyone just demanded Aliens Isolation 2 and nobody even talked about this game anymore, oh and all the friends that wishlisted this game? none of them have this game on their wishlist anymore, I didn’t want to be right that this game was gonna fail but the game hasn’t even came out and everyone hates this game, even in the trailer on YouTube everyone in the comments were just saying we want Aliens Isolation 2 or complaints about the game and who’s gonna bet with me that the game will be Dead on Arrival when it launches

Well, I'm open to seeing it fail, but I'll definitely want to try it and see if it is for me. I didn't bother with FTE. it's not for me.

The game is not 2D they have literal screenshots its 3D top down and I feel like you are getting two games confused you are thinking of Alien Blackout for mobile and that was not 2D either or done by the same studio but it ties into Isolation or somehow you got here without even looking at the store page. Black Out was a spin off that a lot of people were hoping to be Isolation 2 which it turned out not to be when they finally announced it. This game is a Xcom style RTS instead of being turn based though so it is kind of weird to say it is a FTE clone, it may not be every persons cup of tea like any game but im excited for it. DOA does not really fit for this game since the game is not multiplayer it's singleplayer so sales will determine if we see another one but nothing will really effect if someone wants to enjoy it at any point. Also hard to talk about a title that was just announced in June 9 2022 they have not shown much or talked about it deeply besides announcing the title some screen shots and a general understanding of what the game will be and a lot of games do this. Plus these devs have nothing to do with Isolation neither does the studio that made FTE. Alien is just a licensed franchise for studio's that want to make a game within the universe since Disney has no care to make video games themselves just like how Star Wars or Warhammer 40K is treated by Games Workshop. If you really wanna see Isolation 2 which would be amazing then you need to direct that at the right people which would be Sega and the studio which is Creative Assembly.

I have no idea where you are pulling 2D from. Honestly I havent been this hyped for an Alien game since Isolation. A crpg Alien where you control Marines in a persistent world? Sign me up! I actually find it hilarious that for some reason this game is getting hated on because when Obsidian was making Aliens Crucible before it got cancelled I remember people were mad hyped for it and this is basically that game! A crpg Alien where you control squads of Marines in a persistent world AND there is a stress mechanic? I do not see what is wrong here. I have no idea why people are hating on it before even seeing a proper gameplay video. Who said every Alien game has to be a shooter? Then again I am extremely biased as I am one of those huge Alien nerds and I spend a lot of my time playing the Alien trpg.

I think he's confusing 2d with isometric. In any event, any chance to try a new style of Alien game is exciting. I just have grown away from believing alien shooters to be so wonderful. Very skeptical.

My bad, I’ll edit it but it’s sad how aliens just keeps falling off

Whether it’s 2D or isometric or what ever, a lot of people weren’t a fan of the game when it was shown but if you want to play on launch then go do so

Just like my other reply, whether it’s 2D or Isometric, many people just disliked this game when it got shown and no Sega or Creative Assembly won’t care what we say anymore

Why wouldn't they care? They were and still are amazing games, but I argue the reason that they worked was because they didn't rely on shooting.

Aliens does not work as an isometric. These retarded devs literally ignore the mistakes previous entries in the franchise have made. ACM sucked because not only were the funds misappropriated but also it was borderlands with an aliens skin. FTE was ACM reskinned as WWZ and lacked horror elements. For some reason, these idiots can't take the success of Alien Isolation and apply it to a dedicated survival horror shooter. This game should have been developed in the same spirit as GTFO or FEAR, even The chronicles of riddick games. They lack the creativity to use what those games good in an original way.

You say isometric doesn't work, and they are ignoring past entries. What past entries? Isn't there only Extinction? And I enjoyed that, for what it's worth, but that's all I can think of.

I partially disagree on the first sentence.

I'm not much into RTS type of games but I'm welcome for a change of pace. Aliens can work in a Isometric view as long as they executed accordingly and make it engaging enough for me and everyone to play for hours on end.

Other than that, I 100% agree with everything you said. Lets hope this Survios developer can make a great action-horror Aliens shooter and not another disastrous one
Nihil Jan 26, 2023 @ 8:27am
I'm on the edge here.

Because the game itself looks great from what we could see SO FAR.

But there are some major concerns.
1. Singleplayer only: These kind of top down games are screaming for coop. And not adding coop to it will instantly cut the possible playerbase who are interested in playing it not just in half, but into a small proportion

2. Will this bee a "The Ascent" type of story oriented top down shooter just without the coop, or will it be an RPG type of looter shooter in a top down format?
They will loose out on a lot of potential customers if it is an on the rail game. It could still be good. But I think again, this formula screams for a looter type RPG game with chacarter builds and infinite replayability with having randomised new missions and maps constantly.
Narrowmind Jan 26, 2023 @ 4:50pm
Um, isn't Ascent an action game? This is a real time strategy game, isn't it? Now, knowing that, I would think it doesn't necessarily need coop, and it's definitely not screaming for it.
Darcy Feb 4, 2023 @ 7:08am
I mean the lines between action / RTS are pretty blurred with stuff like this and the Ascent TBH.
If it was turn based it would be off my wishlist.
The fact its still on my wishlist is a hope they'll consider adding co-op, and I'm a fireteam / Aliens fan too.

Where games like Company of Heroes (not great), and Call to Arms Gates of Hell (amazing) can add co-op, these guys can too, there seems to either be a lack of enthusiasm to do it, or a lack of knowledge (perhaps both).
Because you can always just turn it off and play SP, nothing lost.
Narrowmind Feb 4, 2023 @ 7:46am
You might think so, but I disagree. There's a reason the release was slated for 2023 instead of 2022 - because it takes time. ACM has multiplayer, and it's no better for it. If they're going to spend time on features, they should be high quality ones that people will actually play. It is a loss to spend their time focused on unpopular features rather than polishing the actual product.

Nevertheless, if they put it in, i only hope it isn't half-assed. Alien games truly need all the help they could get.
