Excavator not able to pick up sand

I noticed there was sand around my gas station and there was one right in front of my gas pump so whenever they pull off from the gas pump they get stuck on the sand and my excavator wont pick up the sand at all I've tried every angle nothing works I've reset it multiple times and nothing is work please help.

ive literally just bought the game and it still hasnt been fixed ive been sat in tutorial for 30 minutes trying to figure out how to move the sand and i just can't so im debating refunding

The excavator is horrible.
It is VERY particular about placement, TOO particular.
It does seem consistent once you get used to it(its still bad though).
It seems like you want to get as close to the middle of the sand as possible, while NOT being on top of it. like if the sand pile is long, don't try to pic it up from the short end, Tbone it it to pick it up.
Also sometimes turning a bit left or right will make the prompt appear if you are close to the right position.

But yeah, wow, this is the single most annoying part of the game, especially starting out.

I was about 30s more of trying away from refunding from frustration with this alone in the tutorial.

i wish we could get a shovel tool at the same time as we get the objective to clear the sand, then we could clear the sand by hand till the dozer is fixed.

I actually did refund the game today after 30 minutes of trying to get the excavator to work. How the hell is something so essential to advancing, but it's been broken for AT LEAST a week, per this message board?

funny enough it worked in the demo just before i decided to buy lol
