Elysium - Raptor - Breed
Hey Community. Has anyone through breeding achieved a special colored Raptor? Regular or Dune Raptor?
I guess i have fertilized now around 40 different raptors and bred more than 50 since I am fully specced into breeding/husbandry....
Not a single spec color so far.

I haven't had a color pop yet.

I have seen a post where someone got two, an orange one and solid black one.

Just as a side note, there are two species of raptors. Dune raptors are tan with a pinkish underbody, and there's a separate species in the sulfur/geothermal regions. They're called just "raptor" on the creature's screen. They're naturally a darker brown color (almost brown/black), and it's not a phenotype (color coating).

There's a skill in the raptors skill tree that causes a juvenile to be added if it dies, as long as you max it to level 3. And currently all the juveniles added this way are the second species from the geothermal region. It's an interest hack to get version of that kind of raptor without going all the way to tame them. Babies in the geothermal area are just as rare as in the dunes. I currently have never seen a baby from the geothermal raptors.
thanks buddy. yeah, i have both species...and did all that juvenile pop on death as well. as said, more than 50 births but no luck yet.
managed to get a phenotype 3 from random tame, after X amount of breeding i got a type 2. became my new fav :ojchicken:

Do you have any screenshots by chance? I want to see if it's worth really chasing the ever elusive phenotypes.
when do pheno types pop? upon growing adult or already from beginning?

Upon tame. The babies, either wild or birthed, all look the same, and if it got a phenotype you see it instantly as soon as it is finished taming. Even before you've claimed ownership.
Things I can confirm:

- Phenotype is not visible until juvenile grows into adult

- Phenotype is obtainable from "9 lives" talent. I had no regular raptors. Only killed 1 male + 1 female dune variant (someone else discovered that dune raptors recycle into regular raptors) to start breeding. One of those babies grew up with phenotype 1. Dune raptors that were killed had no phenotypes.

- Phenotype can be passed on. Only 1 parent had phenotype 1. After a few tries I've had both types of babies. Phen1 and no phenotype.

Since I've never seen a phenotype result from parents that do not have a phenotype I wonder if I'm just reading this wrong, and they have to have a phenotype in the first place, for a mutation to have a chance of happening?

Haven't done any further breeding to confirm, but will try again later.

P.S. If you're interested in the color:

I have not seen any phenotypes outside of 1 and 5. I've bred a ton of raptors now - I'm fully specced in genetics tree, and I have only seen phenotypes 1 (red feathers) and 5 (white feathers and head) and no phenotype. These are all Dune raptors ... I'm not sure if I should be seeing different phenotypes from these guys or if I need to try with the regular raptors? I expected to see at least a FEW from the Prime Variants talent, but maybe I just need to try capturing wild raptors?
Over a month ago, they did some kind of update that made phenotypes start popping up like crazy.. I stopped playing right after the update, but in a single 2 day period I found 3 new colors I'd never ever ever seen on raptors. Before that I hadn't seen a single one ever. But the base color dune raptors have and the base color for sulfur raptors.

I had all three new colors pop from bred babies when they reached adulthood. I have never seen a phenotype on wild babies. But then again, I've only seen 6 dune raptor babies ever. Not a big samples pool.
If you see ANY colors, the system is working and RNG just didn't roll different for you - it's a tough system.

Any pheno in the mating biases the outcome toward that pheno repeating - simulating a chance for inheritance, making it a % chance harder to see a different color vs starting with both parents default.

Max out the talents, hope to find a parent with the "unstable" bloodline - this is the best anyone can do. It may take 50+ attempts, or roll what you'd like on the 5th.
I have all colours.. You are welcome to have one as not really playing this game anymore.
Got every color except the black and red palette after about 22 generations.
just started on breeding the Geo Raptors (Geothermal zone) and have several colours, Olive Green, Emerald Green and a Black, Had most of the different colour Dune raptors as well, such as the gold and white, red and white etc.
Try to get Raptors with the "Unstable" Genotype and breeding them together, it increases your chance to get different Phenotypes (Colours)
It's just a process of rinse and repeat and can take a long time, you can also spend talent points to increase the chances of breeding mutations.
Have had pretty regular "rare" colours pop up from Wild caught Moa, but haven't seen that from Raptors yet.
