Icarus
WIll recipies ever be tweaked?
All the other recipies i've seen so far (i'm at tier 2) have been eh, reasonably logical. BUT, then the bovine pack needs ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ platinum weave !? Like the cured leather makes sense, add the rope too, but you don't need ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ platinum to make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bunch of bags. :steamsad:

It seems to you that platinum is not needed, but for example in Icarus -> it is needed.
This is a normal ‘increasing’ ‘resource requirement’ for creating better quality items, items with new capabilities, for items with better attributes, etc.
This is a common thread in crafting in MANY other games. Totally normal.

Just be thankful that it's not some insane resource that you practically have to go to hell to get, like black ice or starmetal in conan exiles.

Platinum is easily obtainable in caves. As soon as you luck out and find a deep mining vein you will have endless platinum after that. 1 ingot of platinum turns into multiple weaves, so it goes a long way.

the issue is in some cases it doesn't actually follow.

for instance in the example the bovine harnass tends to be seen as a lesser version of the wagon, esp since they made it rideable despite the speed decrease, but it is also more expensive due to the weave requirement

it's not even that it's really difficult to get, the progression should just be more consistent.

why is platinum weave needed for the pack harnass..but not the wagon which requires you to learn the harnass if you're going with "well it is higher resource requirement for better stuff"

platinum being intersparced with other lower tier things isn't the same as an entirely seperate tier (star metal) in a game.

esp given that starmetal is the endgame material in conan, similiar to how titanium is in icarus.
I gave the example of 'improving properties' as 'general phrases'. It is not necessarily the case that the next items in the technological chain must always be better in everything or be better at all, otherwise it will be a trivial 'linear increasing progression' of development.

and what properties precisely do you think are better with the bovine pack (requires weave) vs the cart (doesn't require weave) to justify the additional cost?

also what do you mean by it doesn't need to be better at all...but is a matter of improving qualities? those are two entirely contradicting stances
I think that despite the translation from another language, I have made my point quite clearly:
1) That as a rule in all games, items with better properties or that belong to the next technological level always have higher requirements. In terms of the amount of resources or of what resources (e.g. rarer ones start to be required).
2) After your cart example, I clarified that this is not always the case. But as a rule of thumb in most cases it always does.

3) If items with higher resource requirements for crafting (or from rarer items) ALWAYS had the ONLY better stats, then it would be 'pure linear progression'. But this hasn't been practiced for a long time because it was seen in games from 10-15 years ago, and now they try to do things in a less linear way,
WHEREAS sometimes with some items sometimes there are situations when they require more, but in some ways may be slightly worse.
But this is not a reason to reproach the developers for such situations. That's all.
There is no absolute 'logicality in everything' and there should not be.

lol so literally no justification, just don't tweak recipe costs because "some need to be higher" even when blatantly worse.
