Icarus
Er...so I'm apparently confused about tree sap..?
Evenin' everyone.

Quick question that I'm apparently stumped on.

So to recap, I've recently returned to Icarus after a few months hiatus. Decided to start from scratch to get back up to speed.

Ran into a conundrum that seems to be puzzling me. That puzzle? Tree Sap.

As I understand it from the forums, in order to get tree sap, you need the mortar and pestle. Or so it seems, as with all the trees I've chopped down so far, not one bit of sap.

However..there's a problem. In order to make the mortar and pestle, you need the workbench. Allright, I can get behind that. Workbench needed. Makes sense.

But in order to make the workbench, you need leather. And leather is gathered...using tree sap, and hides on the drying rack. But in order to dry the hides...you need sap.

Am I confused here, or is there a circular logic problem here that just ends up going in an endless catch 22 situation?

On the mortar you use wood or sticks to make the sap. Can't remember if you need to learn the blueprint
Leather is gathered from skinning animals you kill, which can then be used to make the crafting bench.

At the mortar and pestle, tree sap can be made using either sticks or wood.

Aye. I read the posts that said you needed the sticks to make the sap in the mortar. And that it's better to take wood, break it into sticks, then feed it through the mortar. More efficient.

What was throwing me was the leather. I just killed half a dozen wolves (Love that you can fight easier in water then they can!) and got LEATHER from them.

I was under the impression it was HIDE you were getting. So I'm golden. I just misunderstood some things. All is well!

Thanks folks!
