are there sentient enemies in this game?

i'm curious to give it a go but some review on steam said there were no 'sentient enemies'

is it just fending off animals? is it rewarding/challenging/fun in that regard?

appreciate any input. if the game is a good looker, and something i can spend a long stretch on in between other titles its a fit for me.

There are no "sentient enemies" in the sense of there being a race of beings who inhabit Icarus. The backstory of the game is that Icarus is a terraforming project gone wrong and the wildlife was affected by this to some degree, hence missions to kill more vicious creatures.

So yes, unless you're playing PvP in some way, the only enemies you'll come across are various aggressive wildlife that range from super easy to extremely challenging to kill.
