Tips for climbing down big cliffs?
This game doesn't seem to have any safe way to scale down cliffs, I wasn't able to find a glider, parachute, or some other way to safely fall either, is there something to make you fall slower in the game, or some way to rock climb, or rappel down?

We just completed Waterfall: Expedition, and it just seems like the dev-intended gameplay is to build 2-3 ladders then a floor, then build 2-3 ladders then a floor and repeat till you reach the top of the cliff, and then to just jump off onto outcrops that look like they might both not be steeper than 45degrees and actually have colliders, and hope you have enough health to survive the falls to get down the other side.

The only thing I've seen is armour and armour mods to reduce fall damage or the chance to break legs, but I'm asking about a consumable or tool that lets you fall long distances safely or climb.

There is nothing like that in the game.

If you want to get down then you need ramp. Just make some thatch or wooden ramps and bop your way down.

Ladders are helpful for getting you up to high places and back down but only if you start low and go high. If you are already up then getting down best bet is ramps.

I see, that's a shame the devs haven't added any non-cheese way to scale down, but thanks for the video, i'll try ramps or the place ceilings below method next time we run into a similar scenario

Many ways to play this game...
To cheese or not to cheese?
That is the question! :D

Personally, I would try to find a sensible way down.
That way looks like a 3 cheese combo! lol :D

Unless it's a completely vertical drop, you can slide down by walking left or right along the cliff face. The ramp thing is more suited for climbing up, but I've seen it used both ways.
I try and find ledges just to drop down on to rather then build some ramp system. So long as you have the health most likely worst case is a broken leg or sprain which are timer related so.....

To me building long term platforms are part of the game. Then I have my own highways.

try squatting down as you get as far over a ledge as you can and quickly standing and squatting again as you drop over,
don't drop too far at one time, you will take damage, squatting seems to mitigate the fall damage a bit, and can stop you sliding too far in a lot of instances.

Wow that sounds pretty promising because of the way crouching works with edges, thanks I'll try that next time I play too.
