Icarus
Fun while it lasted
Had fun playing for 40 hours or so. I got most of the T-4 l stuff then my interest in the game completely fell off. I think they need to add more challenges such as longer and stronger weather events (maybe seasons) and more threatening and varried npcs. I got really tired of killing wolves, boars, and bears. Other than that the idea is great but no point in grinding for those workshop items.

Yeah, if the gameplay loop of logistics and base building doesn't scratch a significant itch for you, I don't see how the rest of the gameplay could keep a person's interest over the long haul. I don't think the missions by themselves are all that compelling, personally, and it's not a particularly challenging game once a certain level in crafting is reached.

That said, I personally find the game very compelling even after thousands of hours. So to each their own.
There are many ways to play this game...

Play without the "map"... 00'
Unbind^ the map "key"...
"Icarus" feels A LOT "bigger"...

Try^ not to get lost... :)

Icarus is very "flexible"...
Your "prospector" doesn't have to unlock or use "everything"...
Have fun "designing" your session's "difficulty"...

I use some PPR during my play...

- "Talent-less"...
- Tech Tree restrictions...
- Limit "ammo" carry...
- Repair restrictions...
- Oxite restrictions... (Don't place "rocks" in the suit... Use the "oxidizers"...)
- "Diet" restrictions...
- Hunting restrictions ( Try hunting only at night...)
- Mining restrictions

Browse "settings"...
Try playing without the aiming "dot"...
There is^ a "chance" to miss during an "encounter"...

Use your "imagination"... :)
I have read some difficult ideas...
Like hunting with only a "knife"... <--- I haven't tried this one...

I have "two" prospectors limited to tier "3" tech... :)
To me, Tier "4" are "luxury" items now...
Using an "ice box" is more challenging than a "freezer"...

As for the "Workshop"...

My "prospector" has used it for quick "gear"...
Just in case^ my "prospector" dies...
Cheap, quick, "gear" to help recover...

Bottom line, You can make this game as "difficult" as you want...

I think it’s a matter of taste. I’m glad you found a game you enjoy. I played Enshrouded. It’s a great game, and they’ve continued to update it. I enjoy Icarus way more.

I also have enshrouded and for some reason I cant get into it. Seems like a game right up my alley too. I really like the idea of missions, workshop, getting supplies from space but I wish they expanded upon that aspec with more challenges to make the workshop stuff worth grinding for

Don't know when you started playing this game, but it used to be a lot harder, the weather was worse and more frequent, wildlife was more aggressive. That all changed when people started complaining about it being to difficult for solo players.

Maybe they should add difficulty modes, easy, normal and hard, unless they want to add hardcore as well to the list, might make the game more fun working through the difficulties if players are struggling on normal.

I could see that. After killing my 500th wolf I was ready to fight something else. Making them more aggressive wasn't the ticket
The game is far too easy. After 30-45 minutes of playing on the planet I'm able to run around well fed on all 3 tummy slots, have a base that withstand most of the climate issues (stone) and my weaponry is good for killing big stuff.
For a survival game the survival part is pathetic.
Very soon you break down the playing experience to a stupid grind with no deeper purpose. To spice it up a bit I don't use workshop items at all. That fact give the game even less meaning.
The only thing that brings me back after weeks and months of not being interested at all is the great map design and the proper building options. Then I can binge play it for several weeks and suddenly lose interest again.

But hey, got a few hours of playing time since release. Can't be that bad anyway.

As always. Everyone has heard the word "sandbox", but not everyone understands its true meaning. :praisesun:

Where are the steam achieves to make the game as you say ?
animals keep spawn at the same location and it makes the game a boring loops,,
if animals didnt spawn back this will force you to move to other location and will make the game less borring

Interesting idea^... :)

What if some "regions" do not have animal re-spawns...?
If some "regions" are "cleared"...
"Food" may become a problem in that "region"...

Your post should be entered into the "suggestion" section of this forum...
If I see it^...
I may help develop the idea with you... :)
Weather events happen to often I say. Add scarier fauna with teef and big meaty klaws, BIG nasty insects, add humanoid 'things' that walk upright, like a meta-human species left to its own devices(Spooky science terraforming lore), primitive looking, scary, like a silverback gorilla with a tool crafting abilities and a tribe aesthetic, 'big foot' horror comes to mind. But not everyone desires so much stimulation so shove it all on a new prospecting site, and make it DLC so you get get more revenue.
