Icarus
First Styx Open World Mission
Are you kidding me? This mission is hard for me because I do everything solo. I had a hard enough time doing the radar placements and fending off everything, just to have to go get explosives, to place them, then find out I need to find my own way into an area I've been having issues getting into in the first place. The whole point of this was to have access to this desert, and now, after all that, I still can't get in without traveling the whole map. FOR THE FIRST MISSION???

Plus, I have the world set to easy, but the missions don't scale. Come on guys!

It took me a week to come back to this game after dying over and over just getting the radar part done. This might just make me take even longer.

Have you done Olympus yet? It’s a lot easier. There’s one fairly early mission that has a horde attack you that you have to prepare for, but I’d say for the most part they’re very appropriate for whatever level you’re probably on at that stage.

Also, I tend to look at a video guide before I do a mission. For me there are too many gotcha moments, which I’m not a fan of. Get to the dropship that’s half a day walk and it’s saying deliver 500 cooked meats, or 500 ore, or what have you.
I moved from Olympus to Styx after I opened the whole map, and finished about 50% of the missions. Also started on Easy. Most of the time I was wishing you could adjust the difficulty during an open world.
There are ways to prepare yourself better. Do a search for a video on a particular mission or Operation , It's a harsh world out there.

2) An example of a defensive setup to protect a radar in case you are attacked by too many monsters and you do not have time to kill them all ‘on the fly’ (Styx is a difficult map, which has been known for a long time). Naturally, the radar does not need such a large one, just walls with spikes and a central elevation to fire from there will be enough.

Medium is what shows up, even though my world is set to easy. So what do I change?
1) I think you need to check everything again first, because I checked how to change the difficulty on myself and everything worked.
I'm afraid that you need to check the name of your Openworld and the file name again.
2) If the problem persists, then for example on Olympus at the difficulty level 'medium' the maximum level of bad weather is yellow with four petals. When I changed it to 'easy', it changed to green, and when to 'hard', it increased to 'orange'.
That is, the level of bad weather also depends on the difficulty level and this is immediately visible!
I haven't been to Styx yet, so I don't know for sure, but if you check and the problem persists, I'll check again on myself.

PS I don't use mods. I understand that you play PC Solo in Openworld.

Infinitely spawning komodos was kinda tough with leather armour, but somehow I still managed the first few Styx missions in OW with just t2 gear on hard difficulty.

90% of melee combat in Icarus is just kiting. Or just use a bow and high ground. Either tech up to t4 before doing the missions, or learn the combat mechanics better.
I took my time to get to level 40 and unlocked the guns. Make some building blocks (stone walls usually will suffice, one ramp and some floor pieces) and then surround the radar with it. Use the ramp and floors to make a mini-tower and activate the radar. Kill everything that spawns while the radar scans. The most tedious part was leveling up and making the fabricator and guns/ammo. After that, the mission becomes very easy. Have fun :P

(( facepalm )) Why did I not think of building a mini-fort to defend the radar?
