"Color blind monitors"
This^ solution may give you relief for any games you play...
I'd prefer standardized Colorblind features in the Accessability options as is available in most games. It's cheapter ;)
Well...
Just so you know that the "options" are there...
I thought I saw some installable "software" too...
Installable "software" may be cheaper than getting a whole new monitor...
Take a look and see if your monitor brand has "software" options...
I am not sure if Icarus will cater to it with all those^ "options" available...
"Color blind software for standard monitors"
You will find a great "option" there...
It's^ free... :)
I am not sure if you can apply it to the game...
It's an aid to "simulate" color blindness for designing...
Maybe "they" may take a look at it... :)
It's a basic feature that wouldn't be much trouble for a development team to implement considering they're adding new items, gear, and content on a weekly basis.
Its an oversight that should be considered.
But you go ride your high horse there chief.
...? :(
Sorry, I was being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. My wife accidentally backed into a torch and burned down a base I'd spent two days building and was still a bit salty. Apologies, didn't mean to take it out on you.
Twas a mess.

I'd interpreted your comments as making me out to be lazy for not "searching" for "options" that would help my situation.
I stand by that the Development team would be quite considerate to simply implement a colorblind mode as is standard in most games today. But I apologize for being an ass about it.
The monitors are a cool idea but I'm too broke for that right now. I'll look into the software options. If nothing else I could probably use reshade to tweak it enough to make it visible.

How does a colorblind person know such an icon is red and that it's his?
Interesting this came up, had a conversation on this the other day regarding those spectrachrome glasses or whatever they're called - the dilemma was this:
*How do any of us "know" we're actually seeing (that is, the wavelength registering in the brain) the same "color" as anyone else?
By this I mean if we all say "look at that chicken coop over there" we can communicate further and agree it's a given structure type delineated by having yardbirds in it with potentially the features of keeping the foxes, falcons, and rain out, etc.
But if we say "look at that purple (whatever) over there" we could all be in our own version of reality thinking purple is this or that but there's no way to describe it to each other beyond measuring the spectrum - but that doesn't mean what the soul perceives via the brain is properly the same as just a spot on the electromagnetic range of possibilities.
Or I could have just had too much coffee, need to shut up about perception, and play the game...
Noted, and done! Thank you for pointing this out. I subscribed for change notifications on the issue.
Honestly it's not something that's ever really made sense to me beyond "I see color differently than others". When I joined the military they had me do a "colorblind" test that was essentially a stack of cards with colored dots on them, central to the dots was a number in other colored dots on each card. I could only see 2-3 of the numbers, but apparently each card had a number. They laughed and told me "Well, we know you'll never do aviation".
I've always found it odd. I'm unsure if it's due to my lifetime of practice, or if I can see certain depths of color; but I can typically Identify a color like red/green/blue/yellow but say for example you put blue/purple red/orange green/yellow side by side without enough contrast between the two; they're basically going to be the same color.
Same goes for quantity of any given color. Say for example the red player icon on my map (3440x1440), the icon is so small that the red literally bleeds into the back drop and I can only see it if I'm in topographical view (black bg). But I can see the green arrow clear as day.
hense why I was hoping that without colorblind mode, the ability to change our player icon/name color from a selection of icons/colors would be fantastic.
Sometimes I mistake grey/pink for one another too. it really depends on the shade of the color, and if it's visible with any other closely related colors. You put pretty much any color isolated on a whilte or black background and I can identify it pretty easily, but the moment you involve other colors, that all goes out the window.
I'd heard about these glasses. I'm quite skeptical personally but I'd not be opposed to trying it (though most seem to be for outdoor use). Skeptikal enough not to blindly spend $300+ USD on a pair anyway. Fantastic technology if it works though. I've just heard it's hit or miss; as there are various "types" of colorblindness.
