Radio (Cont4ct) handheld doesn't connect? What am I missing???
The "handheld" radio that you can build later in game and take on missions etc. only seems to work within 1 to 3 map squares from the upgraded "base" or "tower" station. This appears to make it pretty much worthless and I can not find any decent info anywhere online. One site or post says it has limitless range, another (I think the game wiki) says or indicates range does matter. I've built the tower and fully upgraded it and I still lose connection if i am more than one or two map squares away. I've tried setting up multiple towers and still nothing. (I can connect to the new base, but only within close proximity). I've tried moving towers away from obstacles. I've tried building towers and placing them higher up to extend range. All with no luck. Any info would be appreciated on how to fix this problem. It seems the only solution would be to place one of these tower/base stations in every or every other square?? Is this what was intended? Way too tedious for me if thats the case and I will move on from game. The slow travel even at level sixty with many "speed/movement" perks is way to tedious for me! Thanks for any info anyone may provide. Really hoping there is a fix/solution or even better guidance etc.

I have issues with them. I just use the regular standup one and return to my base between missions.

The travel can often be a bit much. On the other hand it’s fun to max out speed with unlimited stamina and fly around the map that way. It’s still a big map, though.

With all the complaints about it my guess is the handheld contact device still needs work. I quit bothering with it.

One solution would be to set a mount on follow with the mission interface stored in its cargo. But I’m sure you’ve already thought of this and discounted it as unworkable for you given where you are in the game.

I guess I’d be more frustrated if I ever had any expectations around it. It sounds like you’ve put a lot of effort into getting them to work right with no success. To me that sounds like the worst part.

Thanks Slxpress. I had not thought if putting the mission interface in a mounts cargo. I'll try that along with maxing out stamina. I plugged a lot into it, but not sure I've gotten everything possible yet. I'll have to spend some of those respec points!
