Question:
I have read a lot and watched some game play videos to learn what I can about the mission timer.

I find the timer intriguing, though I do have a question for those that have the game.

If the timer is a real life timer and say it has 13 hours left. Am I able to go to the pick up
zone early and simply wait even if I am off line during that wait?

I ask because if you are finished with the mission early and know that you will be away in real life for the pick up time. Can you set it up so that you can still complete the mission
and be picked up?

Because how do you make a timer if the timer is while you are at work, or asleep, or whatever? Can I finish a mission early?

I am not bashing the timer, just asking a question about game mechanics.

Thank you in advance.

You can finish the mission before the timer is up and leave via drop pod, if you remain on the moon even with a completed mission you die, your character is lost.

Its a shame how the mission timer works.
There seems to be three different timers/times at work in the game.
If you if log off form the game or go to sleep in the game (to loose the night cycle) The rest of the world has not progressed? (storm position, smelting/cooking progress, or animal locations) even though several hours have passed in the game.
I feel that the mission timer and day/night cycle + smelting/cooking etc should all be the same, So if you have logged off from the game nothing changes. (suits people who can only play for an hour or so) and if you go to sleep in the game you loose mission time + smelting/cooking has progressed.

Do you have to sleep in the game? From what you say there seems to be a huge downside to sleeping.

You do Not have to sleep in game. To help clarify Mupptard, (who is 100 percent Correct), the day/night cycle is off from the cooking, smelting, crafting times, which is also off from the mission timer. So the mission timer is how many in game hours (in real Time) you have to play. so even if you log in for 1 hour, and wait 4 days to log back in, than the timer has gone down 4 days and 1 hour. This does not affect the In mission day/night cycle. if you log out, and you are the host of the prospect, than it will resume when you log back in, minus the Real Time timer that has progressed. Now, as far as sleep, you Do not have to sleep, but it can get really dark at times usually during the changing of the sky guard, the time from the moon and sun changing places, as neither is in the sky for a brief amount of time, so it can get really dark. anytime after 1800 you can sleep, and it will immediately change the day/night cycle to 7 am. But, keep in mind, if you are playing with anyone else, everyone has to sleep at the same time, or it will not change, plus, the bed has to be in shelter, and you need either a campfire active, or fireplace active, within close proximity to the bed, in order for it to work. Now, with that being said, what he meant with the crafting/cooking/smelting cycles, say, i sleep right at 6 pm to save the darkness from getting me, and i have iron smelting, food cooking, and 40 stone walls being made, none of them will progress within the day/night sleep skip. it will be as if you never slept for the progression of items. so that is what he is meaning.

Thank you for the information.
I understand the time vs day/night differences.

Thank you all.
