The gold and the sulphur nodes looked almost identical. Other then the label saying it's a deep ore deposit, there's no label for what type of ore until you deploy a miner on top of it.
There was an iron ore deposit too in my game, but eh, iron. Didn't need iron.
Half a can of biofuel in the generator mined 87 gold ore. There's space for 5 stacks If I remember right, so 250 ore max storage.
We did also use a bio fuel version, and seems that the standard drum bio fuel composter is like a campfire- it doesn't seem to take storm damage and it can hold 'other stuff' so- we started keeping one of those nearby stocked with a spare can and fuel to charge it and sometimes ore if you cant carry it back right away.
one other thing, not something for a short term mission, but on a 30 day adding a beacon to these guys help to keep a mark on where you put them. Seems only hosst sees them all, non host sees just the last one put down. on resume, it wont turn on till the NEXT sunrise in game.
so far I like this addition. gave us a reason to go back to the 40 or so mines we had already cleared. The 30 day spirit walk is a great place to tech up to lvl 4 , get exotics, and level up your teams lower level chars.
and thanks to @cis0123s for the TIP with the composter
Uh, they're barking mad.
I was doing a mission that required me to tech up to tier 4 to complete it anyways, so making an electric drill was practically no extra work. I only made one, and a biofuel generator (which was needed to complete the mission too), and I moved it back and forth between a sulfur and gold deposit as needed.
The sulfur deposit was the most useful, just for making all the epoxy that was needed. I had already mined out all the above ground sulfur nodes in that part of the desert, and was running all the way into the forest to get more.
The gold deposit just meant I could skip hauling back gold, and haul nothing but copper back. A little gold went a long way, you only need 1 unit for each electronics.
A copper deposit would have been the holy grail, but I didn't find one on that mission. Copper was once again, the single thing slowing down the building of tech stuff the most
Call me crazy, but I'd like to see a stone node. I'm serious, just stone. But other people would probably be pretty salty if they found a deposit and it was just stone.
My gods, that means you could actually get enough copper to do stuff, like oh.... say build furniture or make arrows without raging out at the person "wasting" copper.
There are so many recipes I've wanted to try, but never have, simply because every single bloody $%$@! scrap of copper has to go towards electronics. Copper isn't rarer then gold, but given the amounts needed, it might as well effectively BE rarer. Which, is... a bit silly.
Still, the deep ore deposits are an awesome step towards fixing some of the resource issues.
YOU'RE AWESOME
The problem is that unless it's a really long mission, the drill and the fuel cans are just too expensive to consider, especially taking into account the amount of time it actually takes to get a reasonable amount of ore. Again, single-player needs rebalancing - less resources, less grind.
It's nearly week 11 - this really needs looking into soon. I'm starting to get really bored and extra really fed up of the amount of grind.
Am running Incursion with a friend at the moment, first deep vein was Copper, 2nd is iron, have only looked in about 5 caves total :)
Hello @all + @william_es, can i ask you, where do you have placed your "Main-Base"?
-
I will start this mission as next, i am SOLO and think i place my Mainbase at one of the G14-caves?
That cave actually connects all the way to the megacave shown in E11 on icarusintel. It's all one big cave. Makes a great shortcut for getting to the caves in D12, F12, and G13. There's another branch of the cave too that heads east, but you will run into the out-of-bounds warning for that specific mission if you try to follow it.
Other then that mega cave, I only needed to loot 4 other smaller caves to complete the mission. Deep ore deposits I only found in the smaller caves, the ones marked with single and double chevrons. Found a sulfur, gold, and iron deposit. That's all I needed to finish the mission, I didn't even check other caves.
"Sandbox: construction" requires even more tech to be built then payday: extraction. Last time (and only time) I did payday, I had to loot 13 caves for the materials needed to build the materials processor and furnace in order to make composites. Had really bad RNG roles on copper nodes, there were hardly any.
This is why the deep ore deposits are so great. Not only can they speed up building tech, but they can act as a backup in case you get weird distribution on the ore nodes inside caves (like finding half the normal amount of copper nodes when I did payday extraction)
