This is the stuff we're supposed to be grinding for, and they have such horrendous descriptions.
They might as well add flavor text like "Ugly, but affordable" or "smells like day old fish". That's the tone of much of the text.
- the canteen
- air bottle
- 1 suit
- the armor
- the mushrooms
- maybe the green items +5 space
- canteen
- Armor
- Ore Backpack or Speed Backpack are pretty nice
- 2x 5% Speed
- 2x 5 Inv Slots
You have only 10 Slots to bring your workshop items to the planet.
5 for the armor
1 canteen
1 backpack
2 for the upgrade slots ( speed or Inv slots)
One left => knife or Axe
The Air bottle is a waste of Credits like the Furnace.
I got the last tier knife and axe and they are OK but not worth the farming.
Working on the Spear beacause running speed is all in farm missions.
You go down on the planet with water&air tanks, a bow and a tier2 toolset and with no thrill you have a solid base in the evening and a steady oxygen supply and are smelting more iron.
Nothing left of that feeling of the first hours on Icarus.
Or you skipped base building, set up cave base and already prepare to make steel.
The workshop items are meant to motivate you to keep playing and do the missions - but many of them also outplay key game mechanics. Take away challange and thrill and what stays is grind and repetativeness...
I would limit the drop ship slots even more - probably add some extra for the armor only so it stays usuable. I think you should be forced to tailor your loadout to the mission you plan to do.
And then some just do not work. That's bad but unfortunately not atypical for the state this game is still in.
Have a screen like your basic inventory, with a "paper doll" of your character. You select suit first because that would effect what slots you have (food, oxygen, water, modules), then put everything directly into the suit slots on the loadout screen.
Then your armor, modules, canteen, air bottle, etc wouldn't be taking up any drop ship slots. The game auto equips your armor while you're in the drop capsule on the way down anyways.
The item slot limitation is another subject to not be happy about.
Total waste of time.
Just don't think of it as a solution to your mining problems. It's not a pickaxe, it's your bottomless bag. As a pickaxe it's mediocre at best.
