The mission to open the drillable nodes is "Payday: Extraction". When you do this (very long, very grindy) mission, you will be walked through the steps to making what you need to find and then mine the drillable nodes (it's kind of a training session as well as opening up the ability). You will need to have some blueprint points available, as you will need to learn the blueprints to make the radar and the extractor (and possibly other blueprints needed to make those, if you don't already have them).
The radar and extractor blueprints are ONLY available on this mission, so you cannot learn them elsewhere.
Can you find exotics in the outpost maps?
Also, are the exotics in random caves or same caves all the time, as I've found 0 out of 5 caves.
They are in random caves.
Edit: the chance to find them is really low, like 1% of nodes, or something like that. You have to check a lot of caves to get one or two nodes, and you only get 16 or so exotics per node.
As awful as the Payday: Extraction mission is, once you have the radar/extractor, that's the MUCH better way to get exotics...
Ok, thank you for this help, I play offline as time only passes in-game when playing though if you wanted I believe friends can still join my game if you'd like to help?
Time only passes in-game while playing on Online missions, too, but there is a 90 day limit on the save. This is so RocketWerkz doesn't have to keep the save indefinately on their server if someone quits mid-mission (they purge them after 90 days).
Which is usually ample time to complete it.
None of us have ever completed Payday Extraction.
