what the hell is the point of a trap door if ladders dont snap to it. Trying to finagle them to match from 5 ladders down is one of the most aggravating things ever...

Then make it easier on yourself. Just build beams straight down temporarily and place another trap door floor piece just off the ground directly below the upper one. Now you can line up your ladder from only one tile away. Once your ladder is in place, pull up the temporary pieces and enjoy your minute long climb?
